But the next day he took a thick cloth, soaked it in water and spread it over the king’s face, so that he died. Then Hazael succeeded him as king.

哈泄曰、我甚微藐、無異於犬、焉能作此大事乎。以利沙曰、耶和華示我爾必為亞蘭王。

耶和華曰、爾當旋歸、往大馬色野、既至、沐膏哈泄、立為亞蘭王、

雅疋子沙龍叛、於眾民前、弒王篡位。撒加利亞事實、備載於以色列列王紀畧。昔耶和華諭耶戶曰、爾之子孫、必踐以色列國位、爰及四代、今此言應矣。○猶大王烏西亞三十九年雅疋子沙龍、在撒馬利亞即位、僅歷一月。伽底子米拿現、自得撒往撒馬利亞擊雅疋子沙龍而篡國位。

入室擊之、以斃其命、代之為王、事在猶大王亞撒二十七年。

從者曰、昔耶和華告爾、必以敵付於爾手、任意以行、今日果應斯言矣。大闢起、竊斷掃羅裾。既而中心不安、謂從者曰、耶和華以膏沐我主、而我舉手攻之、斷不可為。大闢言此、阻其僕從、勿擊掃羅。掃羅起、出穴而去。

又有西利大之以法大人尼八子耶羅破暗、為嫠婦西魯亞所出、本屬所羅門僕役、亦攻其王。其攻王之端、可詳述焉、父大闢之城、間有損缺、所羅門重為修葺、又建米羅。耶羅破暗方在弱齡、已具英武之槩、所羅門見其勤於操作、使治約瑟全家之事。適耶羅破暗衣新製之服、自耶路撒冷出時、先知者示羅人亞希雅遇諸塗、無人在側。亞希雅取耶羅破暗所衣之新服、裂成十有二方、告之曰、爾必取十方、蓋以色列族上帝耶和華曰、我將分裂以色列國、奪於所羅門手、畀爾十支派、緣我僕大闢、又緣我所簡之耶路撒冷、在以色列族中者、我必以一支派予大闢後裔。所羅門與其家、背逆乎我、崇拜西頓人之上帝亞大綠、摩押人之上帝基抹、亞捫人之上帝密君、不從我道、不行善於我前、不守我禮儀法度、不於其父大闢是則是效、故必奪其國祚、然不奪其全土、必使之為王以畢其生、緣我所簡之僕大闢、恪守我禁令法度故也。乃必奪國祚於所羅門子、以十支派予爾、遺一支派予彼、使我僕大闢歷世有光、於我所簡之耶路撒冷、為籲我名之所。我將以爾為王、任爾所欲、治以色列族、

其武士長哩馬利子比迦叛、與亞咯、亞哩、基列人五十、同謀、在撒馬利亞宮、弒王篡位。

古諺有之曰、惡自惡出。我手不敢攻爾。

遂召之至、其容赤色、雙眸炯然、丰采甚都。耶和華曰、斯人是也。速沐以膏。撒母耳取角中之膏以沐之、兄弟咸睹、自是以後、耶和華之神感大闢、撒母耳啟行、歸於拉馬。○

彼偃息在床、猶謀不軌、立於惡地、有過不恥兮。

耶戶挽弓力射、中約藍於二臂間、矢洞其心而出、仆於車中。

斯民偃息在床、猶謀不軌、迨至黎明、凡力可以勝、則無不為、其禍必不遠矣。

烏西亞子約擔二十年、以拉子何西叛哩馬利子比迦、弒之而篡其位。

大闢曰、毋加殺害、彼為耶和華沐以膏、殺之者罪毋赦。又曰、彼或為耶和華所擊、或至逝世之期而終、或沒於行伍之間、我指耶和華以誓、耶和華所沐以膏者、斷不可舉手以攻、第取枕旁之戟、及水瓶而去。

心哩知邑已陷、乃進王宮、縱火自焚、

人不虐爾、而爾虐人、人不誣爾、而爾誣人、禍將及矣、爾以誣虐施諸人、則人待爾亦若是、
