暗利女孫亞大利所出也、年四十有二即位。改列王紀畧、即位之時、年二十有二、都耶路撒冷、惟一年、

亞哈謝之母亞大利見子已沒、則殲滅宗室、殆盡、

偕以色列王亞哈子約藍、往基列之喇末、與亞蘭王哈泄戰、約藍為亞蘭人所敗、被傷遘疾、歸耶斯烈求醫、時猶大王約蘭子亞薩哩亞、至彼問疾。

約藍曰、備車。遂備車。以色列王約藍、猶大王亞哈謝、各乘車而出、至耶斯烈人拿泊之田、而遇耶戶。約藍見耶戶、則曰耶戶、爾為平康而至乎。曰、王母耶洗別、狥私欲、拜偶像、從巫覡、若是之多、焉得平康乎。約藍告亞哈謝曰、亞哈謝歟、彼懷不軌、遂旋轅而遁。耶戶挽弓力射、中約藍於二臂間、矢洞其心而出、仆於車中。耶戶告其軍長、畢甲曰、取尸投於耶斯烈人拿泊之田。爾可憶。疇昔爾我同乘、從其父亞哈後、耶和華以預言告之曰、我曾見拿泊及其子之血、必於是田報之。故爾當取尸、投諸田、循耶和華命。猶大王亞哈謝見此。則由離宮之道而遁。耶戶追襲其後、曰、當擊之於車中、既至附以伯連之姑耳岡、擊之至傷、王遁至米吉多而薨。

亞大利聞趨承者與民號呼之聲、則至耶和華殿、民所叢集之處、見王立於臺、循其常例、又見群臣、及吹角者待於王側、角鳴之際、斯土之民歡然欣喜、亞大利乃裂其衣、疾呼曰、爾黨其謀叛乎、爾黨其謀叛乎。祭司耶何耶大命諸百夫長、及統轄全軍者、曰、在耶和華殿勿殺是婦、當曳出班列之外、凡從之者擊以刃。遂曳婦出、至王宮之馬道而殺焉。
