主对我如此说：“你去设立守望者，让他报告他所看见的。他会看见一对一对骑着马的军队，又看见驴队，骆驼队，他要留心听，仔细地听。”他如狮子般吼叫：“主啊，我白天常站在瞭望楼，彻夜立在我的瞭望台。”看哪，有一对一对骑着马的军队前来。他就回应说：“巴比伦倾倒了！倾倒了！他把巴比伦神明的一切雕刻偶像都打碎在地上了。”

无论进哪一家，先要说：‘愿这一家平安。’那里若有当得平安的人，你们所求的平安就必临到那家，不然，将归还你们。

“人子啊，你要吩咐本国的百姓，对他们说：我使刀剑临到哪一国，哪一国的百姓从他们中间选立一人，作为守望者。守望者见刀剑临到那地，若吹角警戒百姓，有人听见角声却不受警戒，刀剑来除灭了他，这人的血必归到自己头上。他听见角声，不受警戒，他的血必归到自己身上；他若受警戒，就救了自己的命。倘若守望者见刀剑临到，却不吹角，以致百姓未受警戒，刀剑来杀了他们中间的一个人，这人虽然因自己的罪孽而死，我却要从守望者的手里讨他的血债。“人子啊，我照样立你作以色列家的守望者；你要听我口中的话，替我警戒他们。我对恶人说：‘恶人哪，你必要死！’你若不开口警戒恶人，使他离开所行的道，这恶人必因自己的罪孽而死，我却要从你手里讨他的血债。但是你，你若警戒恶人，叫他离弃所行的道，他仍不转离，他必因自己的罪孽而死，你却救了自己的命。”

王又派第二个骑兵去。这人到了他们那里，说：“王如此说：‘平安吗？’”耶户说：“平安不平安跟你有什么关系呢？转身跟在我后面吧！”

耶路撒冷啊，我在你城墙上设立守望者，他们昼夜不停地呼喊。呼求耶和华的啊，你们不要歇息，

所以我今日向你们作证，你们中间无论何人死亡，罪不在我。因为上帝一切的旨意，我并没有退缩不传给你们的。圣灵立你们作全群的监督，你们就当为自己谨慎，也为全群谨慎，牧养上帝的教会，就是他用自己血所买来的。我知道，在我离开以后必有凶暴的豺狼进入你们中间，不顾惜羊群。就是你们中间也必有人起来，说悖谬的话，要引诱门徒跟从他们。所以你们要警醒，记念我三年之久，昼夜不断地流泪劝戒你们各人。
