因此，耶和華正在等候，準備施恩給你們，祂必憐憫你們。因為耶和華是公義的上帝，等候祂的人有福了！

但主啊，你是有憐憫和恩典的上帝，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛，無比信實。

難道上帝聽到祂揀選的人晝夜呼求，不替他們伸冤嗎？難道祂會一直耽延不理嗎？我告訴你們，祂必很快為他們伸冤。不過當人子來的時候，在世上找得到有信心的人嗎？」

我曾給她悔改的機會，她卻不肯悔改、離棄自己的淫亂行為，

但我依然蒙了憐憫，因為耶穌基督要在我這個罪魁身上彰顯祂無限的忍耐，使我做那些要信靠祂並得到永生之人的榜樣。

你們要把耶穌的寬容看作是讓眾人得救的機會，正如我們親愛的弟兄保羅按著上帝賜給他的智慧寫信告訴你們的。

耶和華在摩西面前經過，並且宣告說：「我是耶和華，我是耶和華，是有憐憫和恩典的上帝，不輕易發怒，充滿慈愛，無比信實，

因爲「將要來臨的那位很快要來了，絕不遲延。

他們就是從前在挪亞造方舟、上帝耐心等候人們悔改的時代中那些不肯信的人。當時進入方舟，從洪水中得救的人很少，只有八個人。

倘若上帝要顯示祂的烈怒和權能，就儘量容忍那些祂預備要毀滅的器皿，

我要親自施行公義，那一天已經不遠，我的救恩很快就會來臨。我要在錫安賜下救恩，把我的榮耀賜給以色列。

如果你這樣做，並且上帝也這樣吩咐你，你就能承受得住，百姓也可以平安地回家。」

懇求你赦免他們的罪，不然請你從你的冊子上抹掉我的名字吧。」

在會幕內，耶和華跟摩西面對面說話，好像兩個朋友談話一樣。然後，摩西返回營中，但他的年輕助手、嫩的兒子約書亞仍然留在會幕。
