非利士人攻打以色列。以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑，很多人在基利波山被殺仆倒。

有人擺設筵席，鋪上地毯，又吃又喝。「官長啊，起來，抹亮盾牌。」

撒母耳拿一瓶膏油倒在掃羅的頭上，親吻他，說：「耶和華豈不是膏你作他產業的君王嗎？

我必使它荒廢，不再修剪，不再鋤草，任荊棘蒺藜生長；我也必吩咐密雲，不再降雨在其上。

誰知道他也許會回心轉意，留下餘福，就是獻給耶和華－你們神的素祭和澆酒祭。

耶和華的殿中斷絕素祭和澆酒祭，事奉耶和華的祭司都悲哀。

非利士人攻打以色列。以色列人在非利士人面前逃跑，很多人在基利波山被殺仆倒。

次日，非利士人來剝那些被殺之人的衣服，看見掃羅和他兒子仆倒在基利波山。

「願我生的那日滅沒，說『懷了男胎』的那夜也滅沒。願那日變為黑暗，願神不從上面尋找它，願亮光不照於其上。願黑暗和死蔭索取那日，願密雲停在其上，願白天的昏暗恐嚇它。願那夜被幽暗奪取，不在一年的日子中喜樂，也不列入月中的數目。看哪，願那夜沒有生育，其間也沒有歡樂的聲音。願那些詛咒日子且能惹動力威亞探的，詛咒那夜。願那夜黎明的星宿變為黑暗，盼亮卻不亮，也不見晨曦破曉；因它沒有把懷我胎的門關閉，也沒有從我的眼中隱藏患難。

「耶和華的使者說：『要詛咒米羅斯，重重詛咒其中的居民，因為他們不來幫助耶和華，不來幫助耶和華攻擊壯士。』

願我出生的那日受詛咒！願我母親生我的那天不蒙福！報信給我父親說「你得了兒子」，使我父親甚歡喜的，願那人受詛咒。願那人像耶和華所傾覆而不憐惜的城鎮；願他早晨聽見哀聲，中午聽見吶喊；

主耶和華如此說：「它墜落陰間的那日，我為它遮蓋深淵，攔住江河，使眾水停流，以表哀悼。我使黎巴嫩為它悲哀，田野的樹木都因它枯萎。
