Their sisters were Zeruiah and Abigail. And the three sons of Zeruiah were Abshai, Joab, and Asahel.

Many seek the ruler’s favor, But justice for mankind comes from the Lord.

Then the king trembled and went up to the chamber over the gate and wept. And this is what he said as he walked:“ My son Absalom, my son, my son Absalom! If only I had died instead of you, Absalom, my son, my son!”

And the king covered his face and cried out with a loud voice,“ My son Absalom, Absalom, my son, my son!”

So the victory that day was turned into mourning for all the people, because the people heard it said that day,“ The king is in mourning over his son.”
