押沙龍問戶篩說：『你對你朋友的忠愛就是這樣麼？你為甚麼不跟你朋友一同去呢？

押沙龍問戶篩：「這是你對朋友的忠誠嗎？你為什麼沒有與你的朋友一起離開呢？」

押沙龍曰、爾愛友之情如是乎、何不與友偕行乎、

押沙龍曰、奚不與友偕、爾何不敦友誼、

押沙龍謂戶篩曰、此爾待友之惠乎、何不與爾友偕行、

Absalom said to Hushai,“ So this is the love you show your friend? If he’s your friend, why didn’t you go with him?”

Absalom said to Hushai,“ So this is the way you show love to your friend? If he’s your friend, why didn’t you go with him?”

And Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

“ Is this your loyalty to your friend?” Absalom asked Hushai.“ Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

But Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

So Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with your friend?”

And Absalom said to Hushai, Is this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

“ Is this your loyalty to your friend?” Absalom asked Hushai.“ Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

And Absalom said to Hushai,[ Is] this thy kindness to thy friend? why wentest thou not with thy friend?

Absalom said to Hushai,“ Do you call this loyalty to your friend? Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

Absalom said to Hushai,“ Is this your kindness to your friend? Why didn’t you go with your friend?”

“ Why didn’t you come with me, Mephibosheth?” the king asked him.

There are“ friends” who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother.

When David reached the summit of the Mount of Olives where people worshiped God, Hushai the Arkite was waiting there for him. Hushai had torn his clothing and put dirt on his head as a sign of mourning.But David told him,“ If you go with me, you will only be a burden.Return to Jerusalem and tell Absalom,‘ I will now be your adviser, O king, just as I was your father’s adviser in the past.’ Then you can frustrate and counter Ahithophel’s advice.Zadok and Abiathar, the priests, will be there. Tell them about the plans being made in the king’s palace,and they will send their sons Ahimaaz and Jonathan to tell me what is going on.”So David’s friend Hushai returned to Jerusalem, getting there just as Absalom arrived.

Is this the way you repay the Lord, you foolish and senseless people? Isn’t he your Father who created you? Has he not made you and established you?

A friend is always loyal, and a brother is born to help in time of need.
