约押对亚玛撒说：“我的弟兄，你平安吗？”他就用右手抓住亚玛撒的胡子，要亲吻他。亚玛撒没有防备约押手里拿着的刀；约押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的肠子流在地上，约押没有再刺，他就死了。约押和他弟弟亚比筛往前追赶比基利的儿子示巴。有约押的一个仆人站在亚玛撒尸体的旁边，说：“谁喜爱约押，谁归顺大卫，就当跟随约押。”亚玛撒浑身是血，躺在路中间。那人见众百姓都站住，就把亚玛撒的尸体从路上移到田间，把衣服盖在他身上，因为他看见众人经过时都站住。

耶西生长子以利押，次子亚比拿达，三子示米亚，

他们的姊妹是洗鲁雅和亚比该。洗鲁雅的儿子是亚比筛、约押和亚撒黑，共三人。亚比该生亚玛撒；亚玛撒的父亲是以实玛利人益帖。

耶和华必使约押的血归到他自己头上，因为他击杀两个比他又公义又良善的人，就是尼珥的儿子以色列的元帅押尼珥和益帖的儿子犹大的元帅亚玛撒，用刀杀了他们，我父亲大卫却不知道。

王对亚玛撒说：“你要在三日之内召集犹大人到我这里来，你自己也要留在这里。”

你也知道洗鲁雅的儿子约押向我所做的事，他对付以色列的两个元帅，尼珥的儿子押尼珥和益帖的儿子亚玛撒，杀了他们。他在太平之时，如同战争一般，流这二人的血，把这战争的血染了他腰间束的带和脚上穿的鞋。
