約押對亞瑪撒說：「我的弟兄，你平安嗎？」他就用右手抓住亞瑪撒的鬍子，要親吻他。亞瑪撒沒有防備約押手裏拿着的刀；約押用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的腸子流在地上，約押沒有再刺，他就死了。約押和他弟弟亞比篩往前追趕比基利的兒子示巴。有約押的一個僕人站在亞瑪撒屍體的旁邊，說：「誰喜愛約押，誰歸順大衛，就當跟隨約押。」亞瑪撒渾身是血，躺在路中間。那人見眾百姓都站住，就把亞瑪撒的屍體從路上移到田間，把衣服蓋在他身上，因為他看見眾人經過時都站住。

耶西生長子以利押，次子亞比拿達，三子示米亞，

他們的姊妹是洗魯雅和亞比該。洗魯雅的兒子是亞比篩、約押和亞撒黑，共三人。亞比該生亞瑪撒；亞瑪撒的父親是以實瑪利人益帖。

耶和華必使約押的血歸到他自己頭上，因為他擊殺兩個比他又公義又良善的人，就是尼珥的兒子以色列的元帥押尼珥和益帖的兒子猶大的元帥亞瑪撒，用刀殺了他們，我父親大衛卻不知道。

王對亞瑪撒說：「你要在三日之內召集猶大人到我這裏來，你自己也要留在這裏。」

你也知道洗魯雅的兒子約押向我所做的事，他對付以色列的兩個元帥，尼珥的兒子押尼珥和益帖的兒子亞瑪撒，殺了他們。他在太平之時，如同戰爭一般，流這二人的血，把這戰爭的血染了他腰間束的帶和腳上穿的鞋。
