During his lifetime Absalom had taken a pillar and erected it in the King’s Valley as a monument to himself, for he thought,“ I have no son to carry on the memory of my name.” He named the pillar after himself, and it is called Absalom’s Monument to this day.

Earlier in his life Absalom had set up a pillar in the King’s Valley. He had put it up as a monument to himself. He thought,“ I don’t have a son to carry on the memory of my name.” So he named the pillar after himself. It is still called Absalom’s Monument to this day.

Now Absalom in his lifetime had taken and set up for himself the pillar that is in the King’s Valley, for he said,“ I have no son to keep my name in remembrance.” He called the pillar after his own name, and it is called Absalom’s monument to this day.

第二天清早，撒母耳起來去見掃羅，有人告訴他掃羅已前往迦密山，在那裡為自己立了紀念碑，然後去了吉甲。

押沙龍有三兒一女，女兒名叫她瑪，長得非常美麗。

說：「這宏偉的巴比倫豈不是我用大能建立為京都，以顯我的威嚴和榮耀嗎？」

說：「來吧，讓我們造一座城和一座高聳入雲的塔，這樣我們可以揚名天下，不致分散在地上。」

願他斷子絕孫，他的姓氏傳不到下一代。

因此，人稱那城為巴別，因為耶和華在那裡變亂了人類的語言，把他們分散到世界各地。

儘管他們用自己的名字來為產業命名，墳墓卻是他們永遠的歸宿，世代的住處。

猶大用作惡得來的錢買了一塊田，他頭朝下栽倒在那裡，肚破腸流。這消息很快傳遍了耶路撒冷，當地人稱那塊田為「亞革大馬」，就是「血田」的意思。

他下面的根莖枯乾，上面的枝子枯萎。他從世上銷聲匿跡，無人記得他的名字。

耶和華說：「你要把這人作為無兒無女、一生失敗的人記錄下來，因為他的後裔中無一人能成功地繼承大衛的寶座，統治猶大。」
