And David sent forth the people, a third part under the hand of Joab, and a third part under the hand of Abishai the son of Zeruiah, Joab’s brother, and a third part under the hand of Ittai the Gittite. And the king said unto the people, I will surely go forth with you myself also.

第二日，掃羅把百姓分為三隊，在清晨換崗哨的時候入侵亞捫人的軍營，擊殺他們直到中午的時候。逃脫的人都分散了，甚至沒有兩個人同在一起。

耶和華是我的亮光，是我的拯救，我還怕誰呢？耶和華是我生命的保障，我還懼誰呢？那作惡的就是我的仇敵，前來吃我肉的時候就絆跌仆倒。雖有軍隊安營攻擊我，我的心也不害怕；雖然興起戰爭攻擊我，我仍舊安穩。

耶和華在我這邊，我必不懼怕，人能把我怎麼樣呢？在那幫助我的人中，有耶和華幫助我，所以我要看見那些恨我的人遭報。投靠耶和華，強似倚賴人；

他就帶領百姓，把他們分成三隊，埋伏在田間窺探。看哪，示劍居民從城裏出來，他就起來擊殺他們。

雖有成萬的百姓周圍攻擊我，我也不懼怕。

基甸和跟隨他的一百人，在半夜之初換崗哨的時候來到營旁。他們就吹角，打破手中的瓶；

大衛聽見了，就派約押和所有勇猛的軍隊出去。亞捫人出來，在城門前擺陣；瑣巴與利合的亞蘭人、陀伯人，以及瑪迦人另外在郊野擺陣。約押看見戰陣對着他前後擺列，就把從以色列所有精兵中挑選出來的，擺陣迎戰亞蘭人。他把其餘的兵交在他兄弟亞比篩手裏，亞比篩就擺陣迎戰亞捫人。

依我之計，要把如同海邊的沙那樣多的以色列眾人，從但直到別是巴，聚集到你這裏來，由你親自率領他們出戰。
