今僕年八十、所食所飲、豈能知其味、辨其美惡乎、男女謳歌、豈能聞其聲乎、何為累我主我王、

我今年八十、所食所飲、不知其味、不別美惡、謳歌之男女、不能分其聲、臣與王偕、適以阻王而已。

僕今八十歲、能別美惡乎、能識所食所飲之味乎、能辨謳歌男女之聲乎、僕何必負累我主我王、

I am now eighty years old. Can I tell the difference between what is enjoyable and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats and drinks? Can I still hear the voices of male and female singers? Why should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?

I’m already 80 years old. I can hardly tell the difference between what is enjoyable and what isn’t. I can hardly taste what I eat and drink. I can’t even hear the voices of male and female singers anymore. So why should I add my problems to yours?

I am this day eighty years old. Can I discern what is pleasant and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or what he drinks? Can I still listen to the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?

I am eighty years old today, and I can no longer enjoy anything. Food and wine are no longer tasty, and I cannot hear the singers as they sing. I would only be a burden to my lord the king.

大衛對他說：「你跟我一同逃命，只會給我帶來不便。

此外還有他們的七千三百三十七名男女僕婢，二百名男女歌樂手，

我們一生七十歲，強壯的可活八十歲，但人生最美好的時光也充滿勞苦和愁煩，生命轉瞬即逝，我們便如飛而去。

倘若家人太少，吃不了一隻，可以跟最近的鄰居共享一隻，你們要按人數和各人的食量預備羊羔。

我為自己積聚金銀，搜羅列王和各省的奇珍異寶，得到男女歌優及許多妃嬪——都是世人所想望的。

舌頭豈不品嚐食物，耳朵豈不辨別話語？

此外，他們還有七千三百三十七名男女僕婢，二百四十五名男女歌樂手，

年輕時要記住你的創造主，不要等到衰老的歲月來臨時才哀歎：「我的日子毫無樂趣。」那時，太陽、月亮、星星都暗淡無光，雨後烏雲再現；守衛家園的手腳顫抖，強壯的身軀變得彎腰駝背；牙齒稀少，無法咀嚼；視力衰退，看不清楚；耳朵發背，聽不到推磨聲；小鳥一叫，人就起來；歌聲沙啞，不再美妙；懼怕高處，走路戰戰兢兢；頭髮白如銀杏，精力枯竭，慾望蕩然無存；人都走向永遠的歸宿，弔喪的人往來於街上；

我豈會說詭詐之言？我豈會是非不辨？

公主回答說：「好！」那女孩就跑去把嬰孩的母親帶來。

乾糧是給成年人吃的，他們的心思歷經鍛煉，能夠分辨善惡。

因為你們嚐過主恩的滋味是何等甘美。

那些從清早到深夜貪杯好酒，喝到酩酊大醉的人有禍了！席上，他們在琴、瑟、鼓、笛聲中飲酒作樂，卻毫不理會耶和華的作為。

王說：「我兒，我們不必都去打擾你。」押沙龍再三邀請，王還是推辭了，但他為押沙龍祝福。
