於是王逮捕了愛雅的女兒利斯巴為掃羅所生的兩個兒子：亞摩尼和米非波設，和掃羅的女兒米拉（按照《馬索拉文本》，“米拉”作“米甲”；現參照其他文本和《七十士譯本》翻譯；參撒上18:19）為米何拉人巴西萊的兒子亞得列所生的五個兒子，把他們交在基遍人的手裡。基遍人就在山上耶和華面前把他們處決，這七人就一同倒斃了。他們被處死的時候，正是收穫季節之初，就是開始收割大麥的時候。

讓我們認識，竭力追求認識耶和華。他必定出現，像晨光一樣，他必臨到我們，如雨水一般，又像滋潤大地的春雨。

以利亞對亞哈說：“你上去吃喝吧！因為已經有下大雨的響聲了。”亞哈就上去吃喝。以利亞上了迦密山頂，屈身在地，把臉放在兩膝之間。以利亞對自己的僕人說：“你上去向海那邊觀看。”他就上去觀看，說：“甚麼也沒有。”以利亞說：“你再回去觀看。”這樣說了七次。到第七次，僕人說：“我看到一小片烏雲，好像人的手掌那麼大，正在從海裡升上來。”以利亞說：“你上去告訴亞哈：‘趕快套車下山，免得被大雨所阻。’”霎時之間，天空因風雲而變為黑暗，隨著降下大雨來。於是亞哈坐上了車，往耶斯列去了。

牲畜發出哀鳴，牛群到處流蕩，因為沒有草場給牠們，羊群也同樣受苦。

錫安的人民哪！你們要歡喜，要靠耶和華你們的神快樂，因為他賜給了你們合時的秋雨。他給你們降下時雨，就是秋雨春雨，像以前一樣。

列國虛無的偶像中，有可以降雨的嗎？天能自降甘霖嗎？耶和華我們的神啊！能夠這樣作的，不是只有你嗎？所以我們仰望你，因為這一切都是你所作的。

三天之內，法老必砍下你的頭來，把你掛在木頭上，必有飛鳥來吃你身上的肉。”

他們心裡也不想想：‘我們應當敬畏耶和華我們的神，他按時賜雨，就是秋雨春霖，又為我們保存定時收割的節令。’你們的罪孽使這些都離開了，你們的罪惡剝奪了你們的幸福。
