以利亞對亞哈說：「你現在可以上去吃喝，因為有暴雨的響聲了。」亞哈就上去吃喝。以利亞上了迦密山頂，屈身在地，把臉伏在兩膝之中。他對僕人說：「你上去，向海觀看。」僕人就上去觀看，說：「沒有甚麼。」以利亞說：「你再去。」如此七次。第七次，僕人說：「看哪，有一小片雲從海裏上來，好像人的手掌那麼大。」以利亞說：「你上去告訴亞哈，當套車下去，免得被雨阻擋。」霎時間，天因風雲黑暗，降下大雨。亞哈就坐上車，往耶斯列去了。

牲畜哀鳴，牛羣混亂，因無草場，羊羣也受苦。

「錫安的民哪，你們要歡喜，要因耶和華－你們的上帝快樂；因他賞賜你們合宜的秋雨，為你們降下甘霖，秋雨和春雨，和先前一樣。

外邦虛無的神明中有能降雨的嗎？天能自降甘霖嗎？耶和華－我們的上帝啊，不是你嗎？我們要等候你，因為這一切都是你所造的。

三天之內，法老要讓你抬起頭來，身首異處，把你掛在木架上，必有飛鳥來吃你身上的肉。」

他們心裏並不說：『我們應當敬畏耶和華－我們的上帝；他按時賜雨，就是秋雨和春雨，又為我們定收割的季節。』你們的罪孽使這些轉離你們，你們的罪惡使你們不能得福。
