Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted.

我年老的時候，求你不要丟棄我；我氣力衰弱的時候，求你不要離棄我。

現在你看，自從耶和華對摩西說了這話以後，耶和華照著所應許的，使我活了這四十五年，就是以色列人在曠野行走的時期；現在你看，我今日已經是八十五歲了。今日我還是強壯，像摩西派我去的那天一樣；無論是作戰，或是出入，那時我的力量怎樣，現在我的力量還是怎樣。

那時，看守房子的發抖，強壯的彎腰，推磨的稀少，都停了工，往窗外看的都昏暗了，

非利士人聽見有人膏立了大衛作王統治以色列人，就全體上來搜尋大衛。大衛聽見了，就下到保障去。

非利士人又上來，散布在利乏音谷。

於是大衛照著耶和華所吩咐他的去作，擊殺非利士人，從迦巴直到基色。

你不知道嗎？你沒有聽過嗎？永在的神、耶和華、地極的創造主既不疲乏，也不困倦；他的知識無法測度。疲乏的，他賜氣力，無力的，他加力量。就是年輕人也會疲乏困倦，強壯的人也會全然跌倒。

我的肉身和我的內心雖然漸漸衰弱，神卻永遠是我心裡的磐石，是我的業分。

這事以後，以色列人在基色與非利士人交戰；那時戶沙人西比該擊殺了巨人的一個兒子細派，非利士人就被制伏了。

神啊！到我年老髮白的時候，求你仍不要離棄我，等我把你的能力向下一代傳揚，把你的大能向後世所有的人傳揚。

耶和華這樣說：“智慧人不可誇耀自己的智慧，勇士不可誇耀自己的勇力，財主不可誇耀自己的財富。誇口的卻要因了解我，認識我而誇口；認識我是耶和華，我在地上施行慈愛、公正、公義；因為我喜悅這些事。”這是耶和華的宣告。

因為“所有的人（“人”原文作“肉體”），盡都如草，他們的榮美，都像草上的花；草必枯乾，花必凋謝，唯有主的道，永遠長存。”所傳給你們的福音就是這道。
