當那日子、看守房屋的都發抖，大有力氣的人都彎腰，推磨的因稀少、都停了工，從窗戶往外看的都昏矇了，

非利士人聽見人膏立了大衛做王來管理以色列，非利士眾人就上來尋索大衛；大衛聽見了，就下營寨去。

你不曾知道，不曾看見麼？永恆的上帝永恆之主、創造地之儘邊的、他並不疲乏，也不困倦；他的明智不可測度。疲乏的、他賜能力；無氣力的、他給增加力量。就是少年人也會疲乏困倦，強壯人也會力盡而倒地；

我的肉體我的心腸衰殘；但上帝是我心靠的磐石，是我的業分到永遠。

此後在基色同非利士人又有戰事；那時戶沙人西比該擊殺了高身漢的孩子細派，非利士人就被制伏。

到我這年老髮白時候、上帝啊，不要離棄我，等我將你膀臂的作為向下一代宣說，將你的大能向一切將來的人講述。

永恆主這麼說：智慧人不要誇耀自己的智慧，勇士不要誇耀自己的勇力，財主也不要誇耀自己的財富；誇耀的卻要誇耀自己有聰明、能認識我、知道我是永恆主、是在地上施堅愛、行公平顯義氣的，因為我喜悅這些事：這是永恆主發神諭說的。』

因為『一切血肉之人盡都如草，他的一切榮華都像草上的花；草必枯乾，花必凋謝；惟獨主的道永遠長存』；所給你們傳為福音的、就是這道。
