Today I am eighty five years old.I am as strong now as I was when Moses sent me on that journey, and I can still travel and fight as well as I could then.

Remember him before your legs— the guards of your house— start to tremble; and before your shoulders— the strong men— stoop. Remember him before your teeth— your few remaining servants— stop grinding; and before your eyes— the women looking through the windows— see dimly.

When the Philistines heard that David had been anointed king of Israel, they mobilized all their forces to capture him. But David was told they were coming, so he went into the stronghold.

But after a while the Philistines returned and again spread out across the valley of Rephaim.

So David did what the Lord commanded, and he struck down the Philistines all the way from Gibeon to Gezer.

Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding.He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.

My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.

After this, war broke out with the Philistines at Gezer. As they fought, Sibbecai from Hushah killed Saph, a descendant of the giants, and so the Philistines were subdued.

Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me.

This is what the Lord says:“ Don’t let the wise boast in their wisdom, or the powerful boast in their power, or the rich boast in their riches.But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!

As the Scriptures say,“ People are like grass; their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades.But the word of the Lord remains forever.” And that word is the Good News that was preached to you.
