所留下的就是：非利士人的五個霸主、和一切迦南人、西頓人，和住利巴嫩山的希未人，從巴力黑們山直到哈馬口。

當那時候，亞比米勒同他的軍長非各對亞伯拉罕說：『在你所作的一切事上、上帝都和你同在。如今請在這裏指着上帝對我起誓：你不要以詐偽待我和我的苗裔及後代；我怎樣厚待了你，你也要怎樣厚待我、和你所寄居的這地。亞伯拉罕說：『我倒情願起誓。』但亞伯拉罕卻屢次為了一口水井而指責亞比米勒，因為亞比米勒的僕人把那口水井霸佔了。亞比米勒呢、也屢次說：『誰作了這事、我都不知道；你也沒有告訴我；我也沒有聽見；到今天才聽見。』亞伯拉罕取了羊羣牛羣給亞比米勒，二人就立了約。亞伯拉罕把羊羣中七隻母羊羔另放在一處。亞比米勒問亞伯拉罕說：『你另放在一處的這七隻母羊羔要做甚麼？』亞伯拉罕說：『這七隻母羊羔、你要從我手裏收取了去，好給我做證據我挖了這口井。』因此他給那地方起名叫別是巴，因為他們二人起了誓就在那裏。他們在別是巴立了約；亞比米勒和他的軍長非各就起身，他們就回非利士地去了。亞伯拉罕在別是巴栽了一棵垂絲柳樹，在那裏呼求耶和華永恆上帝的名。

於是王對約押和跟隨他的將軍說：『你去走遍以色列眾族派，從但直到別是巴，點閱人民，我好知道人民的數目。』
