They brought the head of Ish- Bosheth to David at Hebron and said to the king,“ Here is the head of Ish- Bosheth son of Saul, your enemy, who tried to kill you. This day the Lord has avenged my lord the king against Saul and his offspring.”

They brought the head of Ish- Bosheth to King David at Hebron. They said to him,“ Here’s the head of Ish- Bosheth, the son of Saul. Saul was your enemy. He often tried to kill you. Today the Lord has paid back Saul and his family. He has let you get even with them. You are our king and master.”

When they arrived at Hebron, they presented Ishbosheth’s head to David.“ Look!” they exclaimed to the king.“ Here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of your enemy Saul who tried to kill you. Today the Lord has given my lord the king revenge on Saul and his entire family!”

They brought Ish-bosheth’s head to David at Hebron and said to the king,“ Here’s the head of Ish-bosheth son of Saul, your enemy who intended to take your life. Today the LORD has granted vengeance to my lord the king against Saul and his offspring.”

Then they brought the head of Ish bosheth to David at Hebron, and said to the king,“ Behold, the head of Ish bosheth the son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life; so the Lord has given my lord the king vengeance this day on Saul and his descendants.”

And they brought the head of Ishbosheth to David at Hebron, and said to the king,“ Here is the head of Ishbosheth, the son of Saul your enemy, who sought your life; and the Lord has avenged my Lord the king this day of Saul and his descendants.”

And they brought the head of Ish- bosheth unto David to Hebron, and said to the king, Behold, the head of Ish- bosheth, the son of Saul, thine enemy, who sought thy life; and Jehovah hath avenged my lord the king this day of Saul, and of his seed.

「即使有人起來追趕你，尋索你的性命，我主的性命卻必裹藏在耶和華你的神生命的囊中。至於你仇敵的性命，耶和華必甩出去，像從投石索的兜囊中甩出去那樣。

大衛知道掃羅已經出來尋索他的性命，那時大衛在西弗曠野的何列什。

掃羅又派人去查看大衛，說：「你們把他連床一起抬到我這裡來，我好殺他。」

大衛的部下對他說：「耶和華曾對你說：『看哪，我要將你的仇敵交在你手中，你可以按你看為好的對待他。』看，今天就是了！」於是大衛起來，悄悄割下掃羅外袍的衣擺。

掃羅擲出長矛，心裡說：「我要把大衛刺穿，釘在牆上。」但大衛兩次都從他面前躲開了。

撒督的兒子亞希瑪斯說：「請讓我跑去向王報好消息，耶和華已經救他脫離仇敵的手了！」

約拿單告訴大衛說：「我父親掃羅想要殺你，所以明天早晨你要小心，留在一個隱祕處躲藏。我會出去，到你所在的那田野中，站在我父親旁邊，對我父親說起你。我看到什麼，就會告訴你。」約拿單向父親掃羅說大衛的好話，對他說：「王不要得罪你的僕人大衛，因為他沒有得罪過你；事實上，他所做的對你有極大的好處。他冒著生命危險，擊殺了那非利士人；耶和華為全以色列施行了大拯救。那時你看見了就歡喜，現在你為什麼要犯罪流無辜人的血，無故殺大衛呢？」掃羅聽了約拿單的話，就起誓：「我指著耶和華的永生起誓：我絕不殺他。」於是約拿單叫來大衛，把這些對話都告訴了他；然後約拿單把大衛帶到掃羅那裡，他就像從前那樣侍立在掃羅面前。此後，再次發生戰爭，大衛出征，與非利士人爭戰。他大大擊殺他們，他們就在他面前逃跑。從耶和華那裡來的禍害之靈又臨到掃羅，那時他坐在宮殿裡，手裡拿著長矛，而大衛正在手彈豎琴。掃羅想用長矛把大衛刺穿，釘在牆上，但大衛從掃羅面前躲開了，長矛刺入牆壁。當夜大衛就逃跑脫身了。掃羅派人到大衛家去監視他，要在清晨殺他。大衛的妻子米甲警告大衛說：「你今夜如果不逃命，明天就會被殺死。」

上天哪、聖徒們、使徒們、先知們哪，你們應當因她歡喜！因為神已經向她施行審判，為你們懲罰她！」

這時，看哪，那庫實人到了。他說：「向我主我王報好消息：今天耶和華救你脫離了一切起來攻擊你之人的手！」

說：「起來，帶著孩子和他的母親回以色列地去，因為那些追索這孩子性命的人已經死了。」

他們大聲呼喊說：「神聖、真實的主啊！你不施行審判，不為我們的血向住在地上的人討回公道，還要多久呢？」

而那些尋索要毀滅我性命的人，他們必下到地的深處；他們必被交在刀劍之下，成為豺狗的食物。

這位神，他是為我復仇的那一位，他使萬民降服在我之下。

難道神絕不會給那些他所揀選、日夜向他呼求的人主持公道嗎？難道神會耽誤幫助他們嗎？我告訴你們：他會很快地給他們主持公道。不過人子回來的時候，難道在地上能找到這樣的信仰嗎？」

我的舌頭也要終日述說你的公義，因為那些謀害我的已經抱愧蒙羞。

大衛逃離拉瑪的納約特，來見約拿單，說：「我做了什麼？我的罪孽是什麼？我在你父親面前犯了什麼罪，以致他要尋索我的性命呢？」
