He and all his men went to Baalah in Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, which is called by the Name, the name of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim on the ark.

He and all his men went to Baalah in Judah. They wanted to bring the ark of God up to Jerusalem from there. The ark is named after the Lord. He is the Lord who rules over all. He sits on his throne between the cherubim that are on the ark.

The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the Name with a curse; so they brought him to Moses.( His mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri the Danite.)They put him in custody until the will of the Lord should be made clear to them.Then the Lord said to Moses:“ Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head, and the entire assembly is to stone him.Say to the Israelites:‘ Anyone who curses their God will be held responsible;anyone who blasphemes the name of the Lord is to be put to death. The entire assembly must stone them. Whether foreigner or native- born, when they blaspheme the Name they are to be put to death. (niv)

From the hilltop the boundary headed toward the spring of the waters of Nephtoah, came out at the towns of Mount Ephron and went down toward Baalah( that is, Kiriath Jearim).Then it curved westward from Baalah to Mount Seir, ran along the northern slope of Mount Jearim( that is, Kesalon), continued down to Beth Shemesh and crossed to Timnah. Kiriath Baal( that is, Kiriath Jearim) and Rabbah— two towns and their villages. (niv)
