David also defeated the Moabites. He made them lie down on the ground and measured them off with a length of cord. Every two lengths of them were put to death, and the third length was allowed to live. So the Moabites became subject to David and brought him tribute.

David also won the battle over the people of Moab. He made them lie down on the ground. Then he measured them off with a piece of rope. He put two- thirds of them to death. He let the other third remain alive. So the Moabites were brought under David’s rule. They gave him the gifts he required them to bring him.

And he defeated Moab and he measured them with a line, making them lie down on the ground. Two lines he measured to be put to death, and one full line to be spared. And the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute.

David also conquered the land of Moab. He made the people lie down on the ground in a row, and he measured them off in groups with a length of rope. He measured off two groups to be executed for every one group to be spared. The Moabites who were spared became David’s subjects and paid him tribute money.

但有些無賴之輩說：「這人怎麼能救我們呢？」他們就藐視他，不送禮物給他。掃羅卻保持沉默。

於是大衛在大馬士革的亞蘭設立軍營，亞蘭人就臣服大衛，向他進貢。大衛無論往哪裏去，耶和華都使他得勝。

摩押是我的沐浴盆，我要向以東扔鞋。非利士啊，你還能因我歡呼嗎？」

就是從亞蘭、摩押、亞捫人、非利士人、亞瑪力人，以及從利合的兒子瑣巴王哈大底謝所掠之物。大衛得了名聲。當他回來的時候，在鹽谷擊殺了一萬八千以東人。大衛在以東設立軍營；他在全以東設立軍營，以東人就都臣服他。大衛無論往哪裏去，耶和華都使他得勝。

他又攻打摩押，摩押人就臣服大衛，向他進貢。

你們不要聽希西家的話！因亞述王如此說：『你們要與我講和，出來投降，各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水，

摩押王米沙牧養許多羊，曾向以色列王進貢十萬羔羊和十萬公綿羊的毛。亞哈死後，摩押王背叛以色列王。那時約蘭王出撒瑪利亞，數點以色列眾人。他向前行，派人到猶大王約沙法那裏，說：「摩押王背叛我，你肯同我去攻打摩押嗎？」約沙法說：「我肯上去，你我不分彼此，我的軍隊就是你的軍隊，我的馬就是你的馬。」然後約沙法說：「我們從哪條路上去呢？」約蘭說：「從以東曠野的路上去。」於是，以色列王和猶大王，以及以東王，都一同去。他們繞行了七日的路程，軍隊和所帶的牲畜都沒有水喝。以色列王說：「哀哉！耶和華召集我們這三王，是要交在摩押人的手裏。」約沙法說：「這裏不是有耶和華的先知嗎？我們可以託他求問耶和華。」以色列王的一個大臣回答說：「這裏有沙法的兒子以利沙，就是從前服事以利亞的。」約沙法說：「他必有耶和華的話。」於是以色列王、約沙法和以東王都下去見他。以利沙對以色列王說：「我跟你有甚麼關係呢？去問你父親的先知和你母親的先知吧！」以色列王對他說：「不，因為耶和華召集我們這三王，是要交在摩押人的手裏。」以利沙說：「我指着所事奉永生的萬軍之耶和華起誓，我若不看猶大王約沙法的情面，必不理你，不睬你。現在你們給我找一個彈琴的人來。」彈琴的人彈奏的時候，耶和華的手就按在以利沙身上。他就說：「耶和華如此說：『你們要在這谷中到處挖溝。』因為耶和華如此說：『你們雖不見風，也不見雨，這谷卻必滿了水，使你們和你們的牛羊牲畜都有水喝。』在耶和華眼中這還算是小事，他也必將摩押人交在你們手中。你們必攻破一切堡壘和美好的城鎮，砍伐各種好樹，塞住一切水泉，用石頭毀壞一切良田。」到了早晨，約在獻祭的時候，看哪，有水從以東而來，遍地就滿了水。摩押眾人聽見這三王上來要與他們打仗，凡能束上腰帶的，無論老少，都被召集站在邊界上。摩押人清早起來，日光照在水上，他們看見對面水紅如血，就說：「這是血啊！必是三王互相擊殺，全都滅亡了。摩押人哪，我們現在去搶奪財物吧！」摩押人到了以色列營，以色列人起來攻打他們，他們就在以色列人面前逃跑。以色列人追殺摩押人，直殺入摩押境內。他們拆毀摩押的城鎮，各人拋石頭填滿一切良田，塞住一切水泉，砍伐各種好樹，只剩下吉珥‧哈列設的石牆，但甩石的兵仍然包圍攻打那城。摩押王見戰事激烈，對他不利，就率領七百個拿刀的兵，想突圍逃到以東王那裏，卻沒有成功。於是他在城牆上，把那應當接續他作王的長子獻為燔祭。有極大的憤怒臨到以色列，於是三王離開摩押王，各自回本地去了。

米烏尼人向烏西雅進貢。他的名聲傳到埃及，因他非常強盛。

他施和海島的王要進貢，示巴和西巴的王要獻禮物。眾王都要叩拜他，萬國都要事奉他。

掃羅執掌以色列的國權，攻打他四圍所有的仇敵，就是摩押人、亞捫人、以東人和瑣巴諸王，以及非利士人。他無論往何處去，都打敗他們。

亞述王撒縵以色上來攻擊何細亞，何細亞就服事他，向他進貢。

那時，他們擊殺了約一萬摩押人，都是強壯的勇士，連一個也沒有逃脫。那日，摩押在以色列手下制伏了。於是這地太平八十年。

摩押是我的沐浴盆，我要向以東扔鞋，我必因勝非利士而歡呼。」

亞哈死後，摩押背叛以色列。

把城裏的百姓拉出來，叫他們用鋸，用鐵耙，用鐵斧做工，派他們在磚窰中服役；大衛待亞捫各城的居民都是如此。於是，大衛和全軍都回耶路撒冷去了。
