到了天亮，犹太人在一起秘密计谋，并且发誓说，不杀保罗，就不吃不喝。一同策划这项阴谋的有四十多人。他们来见众祭司长和长老，说：“我们已经发了誓，不杀保罗，就不吃东西。现在你们和公议会要通知千夫长，带保罗到你们这里来，装作要详细审查他。我们已经预备好了，不等他走近，就把他杀了。”但保罗的外甥听见这项埋伏的诡计，就到营楼去，告诉保罗。保罗请了一个百夫长来，说：“请你带这个青年人去见千夫长，他有事要报告。”百夫长就带保罗的外甥去见千夫长，说：“囚犯保罗请了我去，求我带这个青年人来见你，他有事要向你报告。”千夫长拉着他的手，走到一边，私下问他：“你有什么事要向我报告？”他说：“犹太人已经约好了，要求你明天把保罗带到公议会里去，装作要详细审查他。你不要听他们，因为他们有四十多人正在埋伏起来等着保罗；他们发了誓，不杀保罗，就不吃不喝。现在他们已经准备好了，只等你答应。”千夫长嘱咐那青年人：“不要告诉人你把这事告诉了我。”然后就打发他走了。

但帖撒罗尼迦的犹太人，知道保罗又在比里亚宣讲神的道，就到那里去，煽动挑拨群众。弟兄们立刻把保罗送到海边去；西拉和提摩太仍然留在比里亚。

亚兰王与以色列人打仗，他和他的臣仆商议，说：“我要在某处某处埋伏。”神人就差派人去见以色列王说：“你要小心，不要经过这个地方，因为亚兰人在那里埋伏。”以色列王派人到那地方，就是神人曾告诉他，警告他的，他就在那里小心防范；这样不止一两次。亚兰王因为这事心中大感困惑，他召了他的臣仆来，对他们说：“在我们中间有谁帮助以色列王，你们不告诉我吗？”他的一位臣仆说：“我主我王啊！不是的；只不过是以色列的以利沙先知，把你在你卧室内所说的话，告知了以色列王。”

保罗来到了特庇，又到了路司得。在那里有一个门徒，名叫提摩太，是一个信主的犹太妇人的儿子，父亲却是希腊人。路司得和以哥念的弟兄们都称赞他。

但他们的计谋给扫罗知道了。他们就在各城门日夜把守，要杀掉他。
