可是當帖撒羅尼迦的猶太人知道保羅又在庇里亞城傳揚神的話語時，就來到那裡煽動、攪擾民眾。於是弟兄們立刻送保羅往海邊去，賽拉斯和提摩太仍然留在庇里亞。

保羅照習慣進了會堂，一連三個安息日，引用經文向他們講論，

與他同行的，有庇里亞人普羅斯的兒子索巴特，帖撒羅尼迦人亞里達古和西肯多，也有代爾貝人蓋尤斯和提摩太，還有亞細亞省人特其庫斯和特羅費摩。

相反，正如你們知道，雖然我們以前在腓立比受了苦、受了凌辱，但是靠著我們的神，我們還是放膽直言，在大爭戰中把神的福音傳給了你們。

然而他的門徒們趁夜把他帶去，用筐子把他從城牆上縋了下去。

約拿單對大衛說：「平平安安地去吧！我們兩人已經指著耶和華的名起誓說：『願耶和華在你我之間、我的後裔與你的後裔之間作證，直到永遠。』」於是大衛起身離去，約拿單也回城去了。

米甲從窗口把大衛縋下去，大衛就離開那裡，逃走脫身了。米甲取來家族神像，放在床上，在頭部放了山羊毛料，然後用衣服蓋住神像。掃羅派人去捉拿大衛時，米甲說：「他生病了。」掃羅又派人去查看大衛，說：「你們把他連床一起抬到我這裡來，我好殺他。」派來的人到達後，看哪，有個家族神像在床上，頭部放著山羊毛料。掃羅問米甲：「你為什麼這樣欺騙我，放走我的仇敵，讓他逃脫呢？」米甲回答掃羅：「他對我說：『放我走！我何必殺你呢？』」

然後千夫長叫來兩個百夫長，說：「預備兩百名步兵、七十名騎兵、兩百名長槍手，晚上九點出發往凱撒里亞去。也要預備牲口，讓保羅騎上，護送到總督菲利克斯那裡去。」

兩個人知道了，就逃往利考尼亞地區的路司得和代爾貝兩個城以及周圍地區，在那裡繼續傳福音。
