God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.

雖然、天主未嘗不顯明據、為己作證、即以善待人、自天降雨、使果生以時、賜我飲食贏餘、滿心喜悅、

主曰、我為天主、豈獨鑒察近事乎、不亦鑒察遠事乎、主曰、人豈能藏匿於隱密、使我不見乎、主曰、我豈不充滿天地乎、

天主不可見之事、即其永能、及其為天主之真、目不可見、自造天地以來、乃可明知、因觀其所造之物而悟、致人無由推諉、

使其餘民及凡奉我名之異邦人、皆尋求主、是乃成此事之主所言者也、

抑爾藐視其鴻慈、寛容、恆忍、不知天主之仁愛、導爾悔改乎、

主鑒察我、認識我、我坐我起、主皆知曉、主從遠處知我意念、我行我寢、主皆詳察、我一切道、主皆深曉、主歟、我舌所發之言、主無不周知、主在我前後環繞我、按手於我、此道奧妙、超越我之見識、至高至大、我所莫及、我往何處以避主之神、我逃何處以避主之面、我若上升於天、主乃在彼、我若下榻於示阿勒、示阿勒見六篇五節小註主亦在彼、我若駕清晨之翅、飛至海極而居、在彼主之手亦必引導我、主之右手亦必扶持我、我若言黑暗能遮蔽我、以黑夜為我之光、以黑夜為我之光或作願我四圍之光明為黑夜黑暗無所能蔽、使主不見、黑夜亦如白晝有光、黑暗光明、固然無別、我之臟腑為主所造、我在母腹、主已覆庇我、

諸天述說主之榮耀、穹蒼傳揚主手所作、此日傳於彼日、此夜傳於彼夜、無言無語、亦無聲音可聞、聲音卻流通全地、言語卻傳至地極、主於其間為日設幕、日如新娶者出自洞房、又如勇士歡然趨道、出自天之此邊、運行至天之彼邊、無物不受其和煦、

然天主豈真居於地乎、天與天上之天、尚不足為主之居所、況我所建此殿乎、
