有一個會堂主管，名叫葉魯，也來了，一見到耶穌，就俯伏在他腳前，

耶穌還在說話的時候，有人從會堂主管的家裏來，說：「你的女兒死了，何必還勞駕老師呢？」

家裏所有的男人，無論是在家裏生的，或是用銀子從外人買來的，也都一同受了割禮。

所以，你們要去，使萬民作我的門徒，奉父、子、聖靈的名給他們施洗，

在讀完了律法和先知的書，會堂主管們叫人過去，對他們說：「二位弟兄，你們若有甚麼勸勉眾人的話，請說。」

基督是分裂的嗎？保羅為你們釘了十字架嗎？你們是奉保羅的名受了洗嗎？我感謝神，除了基利司布和該猶以外，我沒有給你們中的任何一個人施洗，免得有人說你們是奉我的名受洗的。我曾為司提法那家施過洗；此外我已記不清有沒有給別人施過洗。因為基督差遣我不是為施洗，而是為傳福音；並不是用智慧的言論，免得基督的十字架落了空。

眾人就揪住會堂的主管所提尼，在法庭前打他。這些事迦流都不管。

若你們認為事奉耶和華不好，今日就可以選擇所要事奉的：是你們列祖在大河那邊所事奉的神明，或是你們所住這地亞摩利人的神明呢？至於我和我家，我們必定事奉耶和華。」

他是個虔誠人，他和全家都敬畏神。他多多賙濟百姓，常常向神禱告。

腓利就開口，從這段經文開始，對他傳講耶穌的福音。二人正沿路往前走，到了有水的地方，太監說：「看哪！這裏有水，有甚麼能阻止我受洗呢？」

於是獄警領他們上自己的家裏去，給他們擺上飯。他和全家的人，因為信了神，都滿心喜樂。

有一個賣紫色布的婦人，名叫呂底亞，是推雅推喇城的人，素來敬拜神。她在聽着，主就開導她的心，使她留心聽保羅所講的話。她和她一家都領了洗，就求我們說：「你們若以為我是真心信主的，請到我家裏來住。」於是她堅決請我們留下。

眾人聽見這話，覺得扎心，就對彼得和其餘的使徒說：「諸位弟兄，我們該怎樣做呢？」彼得對他們說：「你們各人要悔改，奉耶穌基督的名受洗，使你們的罪得赦免，就會領受所賜的聖靈。因為這應許是給你們和你們的兒女，並一切在遠方的人，就是給所有主－我們的神所召來的人。」彼得還用更多別的話作見證，勸勉他們說：「你們當救自己脫離這彎曲的世代。」於是領受他話的人，都受了洗；那一天，門徒約添了三千人。
