「你們對基督有何看法？祂是誰的後裔？」他們答道：「大衛的後裔。」耶穌說：「那麼，為什麼大衛受聖靈感動，稱祂為主呢？大衛曾說，『主對我主說，你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵伏在你腳下。』既然大衛稱基督為主，基督又怎麼會是大衛的後裔呢？」

上帝從未對任何一個天使說：「你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵成為你的腳凳。」

大衛曾在詩篇裡說，『主對我主說，你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵成為你的腳凳。』

因為基督必執掌王權，直到上帝將所有的仇敵都放在祂腳下。

大衛自己曾經受聖靈的感動，說，『主對我主說，你坐在我的右邊，等我使你的仇敵伏在你腳下。』

祂又使萬物降服在基督腳下，使基督為教會作萬物的元首。
