For David did not ascend to heaven, and yet he said,“‘ The Lord said to my Lord:“ Sit at my right hand

“ What do you think about the Messiah? Whose Son is He?”“ David’s,” they told Him.He asked them,“ How is it then that David, inspired by the Spirit, calls Him‘ Lord’:The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet’?“ If David calls Him‘ Lord,’ how then can the Messiah be his Son?”

Now to which of the angels has He ever said: Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool?

For David himself says in the Book of Psalms: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right handuntil I make Your enemies Your footstool.’

For He must reign until He puts all His enemies under His feet.

David himself says by the Holy Spirit: The Lord declared to my Lord,‘ Sit at My right hand until I put Your enemies under Your feet.’

And He put everything under His feet and appointed Him as head over everything for the church,
