Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two- edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart.

And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgment;

Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones; strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

But let justice roll down as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.

Seek ye Jehovah while he may be found; call ye upon him while he is near:

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness; break up your fallow ground; for it is time to seek Jehovah, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.

For the grace of God hath appeared, bringing salvation to all men,instructing us, to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly and righteously and godly in this present world;

Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit saith, To- day if ye shall hear his voice,Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,

Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? that ye have turned justice into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into wormwood;

Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well: the demons also believe, and shudder.

I charge thee in the sight of God, and of Christ Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat upon it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne; and books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works.And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire.And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked; but others said, We will hear thee concerning this yet again.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?

For we must all be made manifest before the judgment- seat of Christ; that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall each man have his praise from God.

They speak vain words, swearing falsely in making covenants: therefore judgment springeth up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you:who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the living and the dead.

Is not my word like fire? saith Jehovah; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?

Produce your cause, saith Jehovah; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.

For John said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.And Herodias set herself against him, and desired to kill him; and she could not;for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was much perplexed; and he heard him gladly.And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, and the high captains, and the chief men of Galilee;and when the daughter of Herodias herself came in and danced, she pleased Herod and them that sat at meat with him; and the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.And she went out, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptizer.

( for he saith, At an acceptable time I hearkened unto thee, And in a day of salvation did I succor thee: behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation):

and to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with the angels of his power in flaming fire,rendering vengeance to them that know not God, and to them that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:who shall suffer punishment, even eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,when he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be marvelled at in all them that believed( because our testimony unto you was believed) in that day.

Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, open to us; and he shall answer and say to you, I know you not whence ye are;

And a throne shall be established in lovingkindness; and one shall sit thereon in truth, in the tent of David, judging, and seeking justice, and swift to do righteousness.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.And five of them were foolish, and five were wise.For the foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them:but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.Now while the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Wherefore, O king, let my counsel be acceptable unto thee, and break off thy sins by righteousness, and thine iniquities by showing mercy to the poor; if there may be a lengthening of thy tranquillity.

having hope toward God, which these also themselves look for, that there shall be a resurrection both of the just and unjust.

but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To- day; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin:

Let us fear therefore, lest haply, a promise being left of entering into his rest, any one of you should seem to have come short of it.

Shalt thou reign, because thou strivest to excel in cedar? Did not thy father eat and drink, and do justice and righteousness? then it was well with him.He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well. Was not this to know me? saith Jehovah.But thine eyes and thy heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for shedding innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:and before him shall be gathered all the nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as the shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats;and he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in;naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me.Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? or athirst, and gave thee drink?And when saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?And when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it unto one of these my brethren, even these least, ye did it unto me.Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels:for I was hungry, and ye did not give me to eat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink;I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.Then shall they also answer, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee?Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not unto one of these least, ye did it not unto me.And these shall go away into eternal punishment: but the righteous into eternal life.

Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Let it suffice you, O princes of Israel: remove violence and spoil, and execute justice and righteousness; take away your exactions from my people, saith the Lord Jehovah.

And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Then Zedekiah the king sent, and fetched him: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from Jehovah? And Jeremiah said, There is. He said also, Thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, Wherein have I sinned against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?Where now are your prophets that prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?And now hear, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be presented before thee, that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.Then Zedekiah the king commanded, and they committed Jeremiah into the court of the guard; and they gave him daily a loaf of bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city was spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the guard.

but sanctify in your hearts Christ as Lord: being ready always to give answer to every man that asketh you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, yet with meekness and fear:

And as it came to pass in the days of Noah, even so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.Likewise even as it came to pass in the days of Lot; they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;but in the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all:

It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness; For the throne is established by righteousness.

He will judge thy people with righteousness, And thy poor with justice.

and so fearful was the appearance, that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and quake:

For Jehovah is righteous; he loveth righteousness: The upright shall behold his face.

in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.

Our God cometh, and doth not keep silence: A fire devoureth before him, And it is very tempestuous round about him.He calleth to the heavens above, And to the earth, that he may judge his people:

Thus saith Jehovah: Execute ye justice and righteousness, and deliver him that is robbed out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence, to the sojourner, the fatherless, nor the widow; neither shed innocent blood in this place.

My flesh trembleth for fear of thee; And I am afraid of thy judgments.

Then all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered themselves together unto Jerusalem within the three days( it was the ninth month, on the twentieth day of the month); and all the people sat in the broad place before the house of God, trembling because of this matter, and for the great rain.

But the scripture shut up all things under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!Happy art thou, O land, when thy king is the son of nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!

In that night Belshazzar the Chaldean King was slain.

Do ye indeed in silence speak righteousness? Do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?Nay, in heart ye work wickedness; Ye weigh out the violence of your hands in the earth.

Because I have called, and ye have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man hath regarded;But ye have set at nought all my counsel, And would none of my reproof:I also will laugh in the day of your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;When your fear cometh as a storm, And your calamity cometh on as a whirlwind; When distress and anguish come upon you.Then will they call upon me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they shall not find me:For that they hated knowledge, And did not choose the fear of Jehovah,They would none of my counsel, They despised all my reproof.Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, And be filled with their own devices.For the backsliding of the simple shall slay them, And the careless ease of fools shall destroy them.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.

And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.

Now therefore let us make a covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

God standeth in the congregation of God; He judgeth among the gods.How long will ye judge unjustly, And respect the persons of the wicked?[ SelahJudge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.

Now therefore stand still, that I may plead with you before Jehovah concerning all the righteous acts of Jehovah, which he did to you and to your fathers.

But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise;

Belshazzar the king made a great feast to a thousand of his lords, and drank wine before the thousand.Belshazzar, while he tasted the wine, commanded to bring the golden and silver vessels which Nebuchadnezzar his father had taken out of the temple which was in Jerusalem; that the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, might drink therefrom.Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives and his concubines, drank from them.They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of stone.

For all these things hath my hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith Jehovah: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and that trembleth at my word.

So then each one of us shall give account of himself to God.

The God of Israel said, The Rock of Israel spake to me: One that ruleth over men righteously, That ruleth in the fear of God,

Jehovah reigneth; let the peoples tremble: He sitteth above the cherubim; let the earth be moved.

And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.But when Herod’s birthday came, the daughter of Herodias danced in the midst, and pleased Herod.Whereupon he promised with an oath to give her whatsoever she should ask.And she, being put forward by her mother, saith, Give me here on a platter the head of John the Baptist.And the king was grieved; but for the sake of his oaths, and of them that sat at meat with him, he commanded it to be given;and he sent and beheaded John in the prison.

Give not thy strength unto women, Nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; Nor for princes to say, Where is strong drink?Lest they drink, and forget the law, And pervert the justice due to any that is afflicted.

because thy heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before Jehovah, when thou heardest what I spake against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, that they should become a desolation and a curse, and hast rent thy clothes, and wept before me; I also have heard thee, saith Jehovah.

On the day of our king the princes made themselves sick with the heat of wine; he stretched out his hand with scoffers.

Thus speaketh Jehovah of hosts, saying, This people say, It is not the time for us to come, the time for Jehovah’s house to be built.

For God will bring every work into judgment, with every hidden thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.

And moreover I saw under the sun, in the place of justice, that wickedness was there; and in the place of righteousness, that wickedness was there.I said in my heart, God will judge the righteous and the wicked; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.

Come now, and let us reason together, saith Jehovah: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

But if all prophesy, and there come in one unbelieving or unlearned, he is reproved by all, he is judged by all;the secrets of his heart are made manifest; and so he will fall down on his face and worship God, declaring that God is among you indeed.

Give not sleep to thine eyes, Nor slumber to thine eyelids;Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, And as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

And the king of Israel said, Take Micaiah, and carry him back unto Amon the governor of the city, and to Joash the king’s son;and say, Thus saith the king, Put this fellow in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.

But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was proclaimed of Paul at Beroea also, they came thither likewise, stirring up and troubling the multitudes.

and a spirit of justice to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that turn back the battle at the gate.And even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink; the priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they stagger with strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

I heard, and my body trembled, My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entereth into my bones, and I tremble in my place; Because I must wait quietly for the day of trouble, For the coming up of the people that invadeth us.

Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it speaketh to them that are under the law; that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may be brought under the judgment of God:because by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified in his sight; for through the law cometh the knowledge of sin.

Come now, ye that say, To- day or to- morrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain:whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: My justice was as a robe and a diadem.

Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness: Therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee With the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth, and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thy heart, and in the sight of thine eyes; but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.

but rise, and enter into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

And Agrippa said unto Paul, With but little persuasion thou wouldest fain make me a Christian.

If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a province, marvel not at the matter: for one higher than the high regardeth; and there are higher than they.

He hoped withal that money would be given him of Paul: wherefore also he sent for him the oftener, and communed with him.
