但菲斯特斯想要討好猶太人，就問保羅說：「你願意上耶路撒冷，讓我在那裡審判這些事嗎？」

他們在那裡住了好幾天，菲斯特斯就向阿格里帕王陳述了有關保羅的事，說：「這裡有一個人，是菲利克斯留下的囚犯。

菲斯特斯到省裡上任第三天，就從凱撒里亞上耶路撒冷去。

他見這事使猶太人高興，就又去抓彼得；那時正是除酵節期間。

彼拉多想要討好眾人，就給他們釋放了巴拉巴，然後將耶穌鞭打了，把他交出去釘上十字架。

阿格里帕對菲斯特斯說：「這個人如果沒有向凱撒上訴，早就可以釋放了。」

保羅這樣申辯的時候，菲斯特斯大聲說：「保羅，你瘋了！你學問太大，使你癲狂了。」保羅說：「菲斯特斯大人，我沒有瘋。我說的都是真實、合理的話。

對人的懼怕，會成為陷阱；依靠耶和華的，安穩在高處。

於是菲斯特斯說：「保羅正被拘留在凱撒里亞，我自己也很快就要回去。」

於是，彼拉多決定成全他們所求的，釋放了他們所要的那個因暴亂和殺人被投進監獄的人，卻隨他們的意思，把耶穌交出去。

我現在到底是要得人的信任，還是要得神的信任呢？難道我是想討人的喜悅嗎？如果我仍然討人的喜悅，我就不是基督的奴僕了。

保羅在自己租的房子裡住了整整兩年，所有來到他那裡的人，他都歡迎。

就說：「等你的原告們也到了，我會詳細地聽你的事。」他下令把保羅看守在希律的王府裡。
