保罗说：“我此刻正站在凯撒的法庭上，这就是我应该受审的地方。你很清楚，我并没有做过什么对不起犹太人的事。

“大能的上帝耶和华，大能的上帝耶和华，祂知道一切！以色列人也当知道！如果我们做了违背或干犯耶和华的事，愿祂今天就不放过我们！

我的上帝耶和华啊，倘若我犯了罪，手上沾了不义；倘若我恩将仇报，无故抢夺仇敌，就让仇敌追上我，践踏我，使我声名扫地。（细拉）

倘若我仗着在城门口有势力，就动手欺负孤儿，

他们把保罗绑起来正要鞭打，保罗问旁边的百夫长：“未经定罪就拷打罗马公民合法吗？”

保罗刚要开口，迦流就对犹太人说：“你们这些犹太人！如果这事涉及什么罪行冤情，我当然会处理。

保罗却说：“我们是罗马公民，他们不经审讯就当众打我们，又把我们关进牢里，现在却想偷偷打发掉我们吗？这样不行，叫他们亲自来领我们出去！”
