大衛心裡想：「終有一天，我會死在掃羅手裡，我最好逃到非利士人那裡。這樣，掃羅就不會在以色列到處追捕我了，我便可以逃離他的手。」

「若我的田地向我喊冤，條條犁溝一同哭訴；若我白吃地的出產，或使地的主人喪命，願地長出蒺藜而非麥子，長出雜草而非大麥。」約伯的話說完了。

保羅說：「我此刻正站在凱撒的法庭上，這就是我應該受審的地方。你很清楚，我並沒有做過什麼對不起猶太人的事。

「大能的上帝耶和華，大能的上帝耶和華，祂知道一切！以色列人也當知道！如果我們做了違背或干犯耶和華的事，願祂今天就不放過我們！

我的上帝耶和華啊，倘若我犯了罪，手上沾了不義；倘若我恩將仇報，無故搶奪仇敵，就讓仇敵追上我，踐踏我，使我聲名掃地。（細拉）

倘若我仗著在城門口有勢力，就動手欺負孤兒，

他們把保羅綁起來正要鞭打，保羅問旁邊的百夫長：「未經定罪就拷打羅馬公民合法嗎？」

保羅剛要開口，迦流就對猶太人說：「你們這些猶太人！如果這事涉及什麼罪行冤情，我當然會處理。

保羅卻說：「我們是羅馬公民，他們不經審訊就當眾打我們，又把我們關進牢裡，現在卻想偷偷打發掉我們嗎？這樣不行，叫他們親自來領我們出去！」

這些猶太人殺死了主耶穌和眾先知，又迫害我們。他們不但冒犯上帝，還與所有的人為敵，
