And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our ancestors that I am on trial today.

Today I am on trial because of the hope I have. I believe in what God promised our people of long ago.

And now I stand here on trial because of my hope in the promise made by God to our fathers,

Now I am on trial because of my hope in the fulfillment of God’s promise made to our ancestors.

And now I stand on trial because of the hope in what God promised to our ancestors,

And now I am standing trial for the hope of the promise made by God to our fathers;

and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. (niv)

Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the Sanhedrin,“ My brothers, I am a Pharisee, descended from Pharisees. I stand on trial because of the hope of the resurrection of the dead.” (niv)

For I tell you that Christ has become a servant of the Jews on behalf of God’s truth, so that the promises made to the patriarchs might be confirmed (niv)

You who bring good news to Zion, go up on a high mountain. You who bring good news to Jerusalem, lift up your voice with a shout, lift it up, do not be afraid; say to the towns of Judah,“ Here is your God!”See, the Sovereign Lord comes with power, and he rules with a mighty arm. See, his reward is with him, and his recompense accompanies him.He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow.It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. (niv)

“ In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence.He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all nations and peoples of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (niv)

“ In that day I will restore David’s fallen shelter— I will repair its broken walls and restore its ruins— and will rebuild it as it used to be,so that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear my name,” declares the Lord, who will do these things. (niv)

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. (niv)

Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities.Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. The Lord says to my lord:“ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion, saying,“ Rule in the midst of your enemies!”Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy splendor, your young men will come to you like dew from the morning’s womb.The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind:“ You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.” (niv)

“ Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one. (niv)

In that day the Branch of the Lord will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land will be the pride and glory of the survivors in Israel. (niv)

“ Seventy‘ sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.“ Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven‘ sevens,’ and sixty- two‘ sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.After the sixty- two‘ sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. (niv)

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior. (niv)

“ I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.”I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me,“ You are my son; today I have become your father.Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling.Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. (niv)

You will be faithful to Jacob, and show love to Abraham, as you pledged on oath to our ancestors in days long ago. (niv)

The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor. (niv)

A ruin! A ruin! I will make it a ruin! The crown will not be restored until he to whom it rightfully belongs shall come; to him I will give it.’ (niv)

When your days are over and you rest with your ancestors, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, your own flesh and blood, and I will establish his kingdom.He is the one who will build a house for my Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. (niv)

While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them.Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were all broken to pieces and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. (niv)

But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays. And you will go out and frolic like well- fed calves. (niv)

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (niv)

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” (niv)

“ I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the Lord Almighty. (niv)

Tell him this is what the Lord Almighty says:‘ Here is the man whose name is the Branch, and he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the Lord. (niv)

The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he to whom it belongs shall come and the obedience of the nations shall be his. (niv)

What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise.For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. (niv)

The Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath he will not revoke:“ One of your own descendants I will place on your throne. (niv)

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears;but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. (niv)

Sacrifice and offering you did not desire— but my ears you have opened— burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.Then I said,“ Here I am, I have come— it is written about me in the scroll.I desire to do your will, my God; your law is within my heart.” (niv)

He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David( as he said through his holy prophets of long ago), (niv)

“ Here is my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen one in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him, and he will bring justice to the nations.He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets.A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his teaching the islands will put their hope.” (niv)

I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;I myself will see him with my own eyes— I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (niv)

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the Lord has said, even among the survivors whom the Lord calls. (niv)

and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.” (niv)

And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.” (niv)

Why should any of you consider it incredible that God raises the dead? (niv)

“ In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever.This is the meaning of the vision of the rock cut out of a mountain, but not by human hands— a rock that broke the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver and the gold to pieces.“ The great God has shown the king what will take place in the future. The dream is true and its interpretation is trustworthy.” (niv)

“ We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestorshe has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. As it is written in the second Psalm:“‘ You are my son; today I have become your father.’ (niv)

“‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will take a shoot from the very top of a cedar and plant it; I will break off a tender sprig from its topmost shoots and plant it on a high and lofty mountain.On the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar. Birds of every kind will nest in it; they will find shelter in the shade of its branches.All the trees of the forest will know that I the Lord bring down the tall tree and make the low tree grow tall. I dry up the green tree and make the dry tree flourish.“‘ I the Lord have spoken, and I will do it.’” (niv)

But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (niv)

“‘ My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees. (niv)

I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them and be their shepherd.I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince among them. I the Lord have spoken.“‘ I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of savage beasts so that they may live in the wilderness and sleep in the forests in safety. (niv)

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord Almighty will accomplish this. (niv)

I will make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and will give them all these lands, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, (niv)

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (niv)
