But the centurion wanted to spare Paul’s life and kept them from carrying out their plan. He ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. (niv)

When the centurion heard this, he went to the commander and reported it.“ What are you going to do?” he asked.“ This man is a Roman citizen.” (niv)

He at once took some officers and soldiers and ran down to the crowd. When the rioters saw the commander and his soldiers, they stopped beating Paul. (niv)

But the plans of the Lord stand firm forever, the purposes of his heart through all generations. (niv)

It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is young. (niv)

All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him:“ What have you done?” (niv)

After all this had happened, Paul decided to go to Jerusalem, passing through Macedonia and Achaia.“ After I have been there,” he said,“ I must visit Rome also.” (niv)

Then Paul called one of the centurions and said,“ Take this young man to the commander; he has something to tell him.” (niv)

The men replied,“ We have come from Cornelius the centurion. He is a righteous and God- fearing man, who is respected by all the Jewish people. A holy angel told him to ask you to come to his house so that he could hear what you have to say.” (niv)

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. (niv)

He ordered the centurion to keep Paul under guard but to give him some freedom and permit his friends to take care of his needs. (niv)

There a centurion’s servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. (niv)
