Paul said to the centurion and to the soldiers, Except these abide in the ship, ye cannot be saved.

But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

But after long abstinence Paul stood forth in the midst of them, and said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened unto me, and not have loosed from Crete, and to have gained this harm and loss.And now I exhort you to be of good cheer: for there shall be no loss of[ any man’s] life among you, but of the ship.For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve,Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee.

Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.They shall bear thee up in[ their] hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

Then the heathen that are left round about you shall know that I the LORD build the ruined[ places, and] plant that that was desolate: I the LORD have spoken[ it], and I will do[ it].Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will yet[ for] this be enquired of by the house of Israel, to do[ it] for them; I will increase them with men like a flock.

Nevertheless the centurion believed the master and the owner of the ship, more than those things which were spoken by Paul.

And the soldiers’ counsel was to kill the prisoners, lest any of them should swim out, and escape.But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from[ their] purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast[ themselves] first[ into the sea], and get to land:

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.And ye shall seek me, and find[ me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence:For it is written, He shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee:And in[ their] hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.And Jesus answering said unto him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
