神就轉身不顧，任憑他們去事奉天上的萬象，正如先知書上所記載的：『以色列家呀！你們在曠野的四十年裡獻上的犧牲和祭物，難道是給我的嗎？

於是上帝轉而不顧、任其奉事天軍、如先知書所錄云、以色列室乎、爾四十年於曠野、豈以犧牲祭物獻我乎、

於是、上帝弗恤、聽其奉事天上列宿、先知書有云、以色列族乎、爾於曠野四十年、非以犧牲祭物獻我歟、

於是天主離之、聽其奉事天上群星、如先知書所載云、以色列族乎、爾於曠野歷四十年、獻犧牲祭物、豈獻於我乎、

天主乃棄置之、任彼奉事天上之日月星辰、此正如先知書所記曰：嗚呼義塞之家室、率彼曠野四十春。何曾貢我以祭品、何曾獻我以犧牲。

Then God turned away from them and abandoned them to serve the stars of heaven as their gods! In the book of the prophets it is written,‘ Was it to me you were bringing sacrifices and offerings during those forty years in the wilderness, Israel?

God turned away and gave them up to worship the stars of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets: House of Israel, did you bring me offerings and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness?

But God turned away and gave them over to serve the heavenly lights; as it is written in the book of the prophets:‘ You did not offer Me victims and sacrifices for forty years in the wilderness, did you, house of Israel?

「以色列家啊，你們在曠野四十年，何嘗將祭物和供物獻給我呢？你們抬着你們的撒古特君王，和你們為自己所造之偶像迦溫－你們的神明之星。

「你們，以色列家啊，主耶和華如此說：你們若不聽從我，從今以後就讓各人去事奉他的偶像吧，只是不可再以你們的供物和偶像褻瀆我的聖名。

耶路撒冷的房屋和猶大君王的宮殿，就是他們在其上向天上的萬象燒香、向別神獻澆酒祭的宮殿房屋，都必被玷污，和陀斐特一樣。』」

所以，神任憑他們隨着心裏的情慾行污穢的事，以致彼此羞辱自己的身體。他們將神的真實變為虛謊，去敬拜事奉受造之物，不敬奉那造物的主－主是可稱頌的，直到永遠。阿們！因此，神任憑他們放縱可羞恥的情慾。他們的女人把自然的關係變成違反自然的；男人也是如此，放棄了和女人自然的關係，慾火攻心，男的和男的彼此貪戀，行可恥的事，就在自己身上受這逆性行為當得的報應。他們既然故意不認識神，神就任憑他們存扭曲的心，做那些不該做的事，

「無奈，我的子民不聽我的聲音，以色列不肯聽從我。我就任憑他們心裏頑梗，隨自己的計謀而行。

他們竟然悖逆，使他的聖靈憂傷。他就轉變，成為他們的仇敵，親自攻擊他們。

你們若離棄耶和華去事奉外邦的神明，耶和華在降福之後，必轉而降禍給你們，把你們滅絕。」

以法蓮親近偶像，任憑他吧！

又恐怕你向天舉目，看見耶和華－你的神為天下萬民所擺列的日月星辰，就是天上的萬象，就被誘惑去敬拜它們，事奉它們。

我也必選擇苦待他們，使他們所懼怕的臨到他們；因為我呼喚，無人回應；我說話，他們不聽從；反倒做我眼中看為惡的事，選擇我所不喜悅的事。」

他重新建築他父親希西家所毀壞的丘壇，又為巴力築壇，造亞舍拉，效法以色列王亞哈所行的，敬拜天上的萬象，事奉它們。

我若見太陽發光，明月運行，心就暗暗被引誘，口親吻自己的手；這也是審判官裁定的罪孽，因為我背棄了至上的神。

他們離棄耶和華－他們神的一切誡命，為自己鑄造了兩個牛犢的像，立了亞舍拉，敬拜天上的萬象，事奉巴力，

經上說：「今日，你們若聽他的話，就不可硬着心，像在背叛之時。」聽見他而又背叛他的是誰呢？豈不是跟着摩西從埃及出來的眾人嗎？神向誰發怒四十年之久呢？豈不是那些犯罪而陳屍在曠野的人嗎？

四十年之久，我厭煩那世代，說：「這是心裏迷糊的百姓，竟不知道我的道路！」

在那裏，你們的祖宗試探我，並且觀看我的作為，

因為以色列家的人，或在以色列中寄居的外人，凡與我隔絕，在心中設立偶像，把陷自己於罪的絆腳石放在面前，卻來到先知那裏，要為自己的事求問我的，我－耶和華必親自報應他。我要向那人變臉，使他成為警戒和笑柄，並且我要把他從我民中剪除；你們就知道我是耶和華。先知若被騙說了一句預言，是我－耶和華騙了那先知，我要伸手攻擊他，把他從我百姓以色列中除滅。他們必擔當自己的罪孽。先知的罪孽和求問之人的罪孽都一樣，

去事奉別神，敬拜它們，或拜太陽，或拜月亮，或拜天上的萬象，是我不曾吩咐的。

我也任他們遵行那無益的律例，隨從那不能使人存活的規條。

然後他領我到耶和華殿的內院。看哪，在耶和華殿門口、走廊和祭壇中間，約有二十五個人背向耶和華的殿，面向東方，向東拜太陽。

這人領以色列人出來，在埃及地，在紅海，在曠野的四十年間行了奇事神蹟。

你並沒有將你的羊帶來獻給我做燔祭，也沒有用牲祭尊敬我；我未曾因素祭使你操勞，也沒有因乳香使你厭煩。

並且在那沉淪的人身上行各樣不義的詭詐，因為他們不領受愛真理的心，好讓他們得救。故此，神就給他們一個引發錯誤的心，叫他們信從虛謊，使一切不信真理、倒喜愛不義的人都被定罪。
