You lie on beds adorned with ivory and lounge on your couches. You dine on choice lambs and fattened calves.

You lie down on beds that are decorated with ivory. You rest on your couches. You eat the best lambs and the fattest calves.

“ Woe to those who lie on beds of ivory and stretch themselves out on their couches, and eat lambs from the flock and calves from the midst of the stall,

How terrible for you who sprawl on ivory beds and lounge on your couches, eating the meat of tender lambs from the flock and of choice calves fattened in the stall.

They lie on beds inlaid with ivory, sprawled out on their couches, and dine on lambs from the flock and calves from the stall.

Those who lie on beds of ivory, And lounge around on their couches, And eat lambs from the flock, And calves from the midst of the fattened cattle,

You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. (niv)

“ Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel; prophesy and say to them:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: Woe to you shepherds of Israel who only take care of yourselves! Should not shepherds take care of the flock?You eat the curds, clothe yourselves with the wool and slaughter the choice animals, but you do not take care of the flock. (niv)

This is what the Lord says:“ As a shepherd rescues from the lion’s mouth only two leg bones or a piece of an ear, so will the Israelites living in Samaria be rescued, with only the head of a bed and a piece of fabric from a couch.” (niv)

Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy.Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh. (niv)

“ There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. (niv)

But see, there is joy and revelry, slaughtering of cattle and killing of sheep, eating of meat and drinking of wine!“ Let us eat and drink,” you say,“ for tomorrow we die!” (niv)
