For this is what Amos is saying:“‘ Jeroboam will die by the sword, and Israel will surely go into exile, away from their native land.’”

“ The high places where Isaac’s people worship other gods will be destroyed. The other places of worship in Israel will also be torn down. I will use my sword to attack Jeroboam’s royal family.”

The false prophet Hananiah took the yoke off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet. They said,“ This fellow claimed,‘ I am able to destroy the temple of God. I can build it again in three days.’ ”

Why do you prophesy these things in the Lord’ s name? Why do you say that this house will become like Shiloh? Why do you say that this city will be empty and deserted?” And all the people crowded around Jeremiah in the Lord’ s house.
