他们当中有些人溜进别人家里，虏获无知的妇女。这些妇女被罪孽压制，被各种欲望牵引，虽然一直学习，却始终不能达到到真理的知识当中。

所以怎么样呢？以色列人并没有获得他们所寻求的，蒙拣选的人却获得了，而其余的人都成了刚硬的，正如经上所记：“神给了他们昏迷的心灵、看不见的眼睛、听不见的耳朵，直到今天。”大卫也说：“让他们的筵席成为网罗、陷阱、绊脚石，又成为他们的报应。让他们的眼睛昏暗不能看。让他们的腰背永远弯曲。”

而以色列人追求律法的义，却没有达到律法的义。这是为什么呢？因为他们不是本于信，倒像是本于行为去追求的，所以他们就绊倒在那“绊脚的石头”上。正如经上所记：“看哪，我在锡安放一块绊脚的石头，是使人绊倒的磐石；可是信靠他的人将不至于蒙羞。”

讥讽者寻求智慧却得不到；有悟性的人轻易得知识。

不与我在一起的，就是在反对我；不与我一起收集的，就是在拆散。

那时候，耶稣说：“父啊，天地的主，我赞美你，因为你把这些事向有智慧的和有学问的人隐藏起来，而向小孩子们显明出来。是的，父啊！因为这正是你的美意。我父把一切都交给了我。除了父，没有人认识子；除了子和子所愿意启示的人，也没有人认识父。

但以理啊！你当隐藏这些话语，封住这书卷，直到末后的时期；必有许多人往来奔走，知识也必增多。”
