爾效基督之死、脫此世小學、奚可從世故、尚儀文乎、

爾等既與基督同死、而已灑然脫於世俗之蒙學矣、乃何又鰓鰓遵循人為之禁令、一若尚生於世俗之中耶？

If ye died with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, do ye subject yourselves to ordinances,

If you died with the Messiah to the elemental forces of this world, why do you live as if you still belonged to the world? Why do you submit to regulations:

Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,

If you have died with Christ to the elemental spirits of the world, why do you submit to them as though you lived in the world?

慎勿為人以曲學虛言所誘、循人之遺傳、世之賤質、賤質或作虛文下同非遵基督也、

我儕亦然、當未成人時、被此世賤質賤質或作虛文束縛、

故人勿因飲食、節期、月朔、安息日而議論爾曹、

塗抹禮儀之券、即拘束我儕而罪我儕者、且除於我中、釘之十字架、

我知我儕屬天主、亦知舉世與彼惡者聯屬、

基督為我儕身受苦難、爾曹亦當有此心志、以為鎧甲、蓋凡身受苦難者、息於犯罪、使爾曹今後不從人慾、而順天主之旨、以度在世所餘之光陰、我從異邦人之意、邪侈、縱慾、放飲、饕餮、沈湎、更行拜偶像可憎之事、往時如是已足矣、

如是、我兄弟乎、爾因基督之身、已釋於律法若死、致可從他人、即由死復活之主、使我儕為天主而結果也、蓋我儕屬肉體之時、罪慾由律法而生者、動於我肢體、使我儕結果以致死、今則得釋於律法、蓋繫我者、我已脫之若死、使我儕事主不以文之舊者、乃以神之新者、

我由律法、而為律法已死、使我可為天主而生、我與基督同釘於十字架、而我仍生、非我生、乃基督在我內而生、且今我在身而生、乃以信天主子而生、彼曾愛我、為我舍己者也、

勿為諸異端所撼、心堅以主恩、非以別飲食之事、乃善也、別飲食之事、行之者從未得益、

即我儕按血氣而行、不按血氣而戰、

彼以其身、廢冤仇之由、即教守儀文之律法、欲於己身使二者成為一新造之人、如是、使之得和、

淫亂之男女乎、豈不知愛世即惡天主、凡欲與世為友者、即與天主為敵也、

但我所誇者無他、惟誇我主耶穌基督之十字架、我賴之、世向我已釘十字架、我向世亦然、

我以爾言授彼、而世惡之、因彼不屬世、如我之不屬世然、我非求爾取彼離世、惟求保其不陷於惡、彼不屬世、如我之不屬世然、

今爾識天主、更為天主所識、奈何復向柔弱卑狹之賤質、欲再為其所束而為奴乎、爾仍守日與月、節與年、我為爾懼、恐我為爾徒勞矣、○兄弟、我求爾當如我、蓋我亦如爾、爾未有所虧我、

爾若屬世、則世必愛屬己者、但爾不屬世、乃我所選於世者、故世惡爾、

非也、我儕既絕罪若死、豈可仍於罪中而生乎、豈不知我儕為基督耶穌受洗禮者、乃為其死為其死或作效其死下同受洗禮、故我儕為其死受洗禮、是與基督同葬、基督以父之榮、由死復生、我儕從此新生以行、亦如是、我儕若效其死狀、亦必效其復活、蓋知我儕舊日之我、舊日之我原文作本體之舊人與之同釘十字架、以滅罪身、使我儕不復為罪所役、蓋死者已釋於罪也、若我誠與基督同死、則信必與其同生、且知基督既由死復活、則不復死、死不復轄之、其死也、為罪而死、惟此一次、其生也、為天主而生、如是爾曹賴我主耶穌基督、當視己為罪而死、為天主而生、

蓋爾曹已死、爾之生命、與基督同藏於天主、
