Therefore be very careful how you live– not as unwise but as wise,taking advantage of every opportunity, because the days are evil.For this reason do not be foolish, but be wise by understanding what the Lord’s will is.

In this way you will live a decent life before outsiders and not be in need.

Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct he should show his works done in the gentleness that wisdom brings.

But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, accommodating, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and not hypocritical.

Your obedience is known to all and thus I rejoice over you. But I want you to be wise in what is good and innocent in what is evil.

For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Are you not to judge those inside?But God will judge those outside. Remove the evil person from among you.

And he must be well thought of by those outside the faith, so that he may not fall into disgrace and be caught by the devil’s trap.

“ I am sending you out like sheep surrounded by wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and exhorting one another with all wisdom, singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, all with grace in your hearts to God.

He said to them,“ The secret of the kingdom of God has been given to you. But to those outside, everything is in parables,

but in the church I want to speak five words with my mind to instruct others, rather than ten thousand words in a tongue.Brothers and sisters, do not be children in your thinking. Instead, be infants in evil, but in your thinking be mature.It is written in the law:“ By people with strange tongues and by the lips of strangers I will speak to this people, yet not even in this way will they listen to me,” says the Lord.So then, tongues are a sign not for believers but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is not for unbelievers but for believers.So if the whole church comes together and all speak in tongues, and unbelievers or uninformed people enter, will they not say that you have lost your minds?But if all prophesy, and an unbeliever or uninformed person enters, he will be convicted by all, he will be called to account by all.The secrets of his heart are disclosed, and in this way he will fall down with his face to the ground and worship God, declaring,“ God is really among you.”

But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him.

In the same way, wives, be subject to your own husbands. Then, even if some are disobedient to the word, they will be won over without a word by the way you live,

So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely.
