“ Then the king of the South will march out in a rage and fight against the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but it will be defeated.

“ Another king of Egypt will march out with mighty force. He will be very angry. By then, another person will have become king in Syria. The king of Egypt will come to fight against him. The king of Syria will gather a huge army. But that army will lose the battle.

Then the king of the south, moved with rage, shall come out and fight against the king of the north. And he shall raise a great multitude, but it shall be given into his hand.

Infuriated, the king of the South will march out to fight with the king of the North, who will raise a large army, but they will be handed over to his enemy.

The goat charged furiously at the ram and struck him, breaking off both his horns. Now the ram was helpless, and the goat knocked him down and trampled him. No one could rescue the ram from the goat’s power.

“ The king of the south will increase in power, but one of his own officials will become more powerful than he and will rule his kingdom with great strength.

Human defiance only enhances your glory, for you use it as a weapon.

The best equipped army cannot save a king, nor is great strength enough to save a warrior.Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory— for all its strength, it cannot save you.

“ But then news from the east and the north will alarm him, and he will set out in great anger to destroy and obliterate many.

Then the man of God went to the king of Israel and said,“ This is what the Lord says: The Arameans have said,‘ The Lord is a god of the hills and not of the plains.’ So I will defeat this vast army for you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

He has made you the ruler over all the inhabited world and has put even the wild animals and birds under your control. You are the head of gold.

“ Later the king of the north will invade the realm of the king of the south but will soon return to his own land.However, the sons of the king of the north will assemble a mighty army that will advance like a flood and carry the battle as far as the enemy’s fortress.

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.

Then a certain prophet came to see King Ahab of Israel and told him,“ This is what the Lord says: Do you see all these enemy forces? Today I will hand them all over to you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”
