“ His armed forces will rise up to desecrate the temple fortress and will abolish the daily sacrifice. Then they will set up the abomination that causes desolation.

It set itself up to be as great as the commander of the army of the Lord; it took away the daily sacrifice from the Lord, and his sanctuary was thrown down.Because of rebellion, the Lord’s people and the daily sacrifice were given over to it. It prospered in everything it did, and truth was thrown to the ground.Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him,“ How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled— the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people?” (niv)

“ When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. (niv)

The Lord has rejected his altar and abandoned his sanctuary. He has given the walls of her palaces into the hands of the enemy; they have raised a shout in the house of the Lord as on the day of an appointed festival. (niv)

Then he said to them,“ Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!” So they went out and began killing throughout the city. (niv)

Take care that what the prophets have said does not happen to you:“‘ Look, you scoffers, wonder and perish, for I am going to do something in your days that you would never believe, even if someone told you.’” (niv)

“ The vision of the evenings and mornings that has been given you is true, but seal up the vision, for it concerns the distant future.” (niv)

He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy those who are mighty, the holy people. (niv)

“ The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but who for one hour will receive authority as kings along with the beast. (niv)

Say to the people of Israel,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I am about to desecrate my sanctuary— the stronghold in which you take pride, the delight of your eyes, the object of your affection. The sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.And you will do as I have done. You will not cover your mustache and beard or eat the customary food of mourners. (niv)

They took pride in their beautiful jewelry and used it to make their detestable idols. They made it into vile images; therefore I will make it a thing unclean for them.I will give their wealth as plunder to foreigners and as loot to the wicked of the earth, who will defile it. (niv)

The enemy laid hands on all her treasures; she saw pagan nations enter her sanctuary— those you had forbidden to enter your assembly. (niv)
