那时，尼布撒拉旦护卫长把城里所剩下的百姓和投降他的降民，以及其余的百姓都掳到巴比伦去了。

跟随护卫长的迦勒底全军拆毁了耶路撒冷四围的城墙。

于是，但以理进到王所派灭绝巴比伦智慧人的亚略那里去，对他这样说：“不要灭绝巴比伦的智慧人，求你领我到王面前，我可以为王解梦。”

一个有智慧的妇人从城上呼叫：“听啊，听啊，请你们告诉约押：‘近前来到这里，我好与你说话。’”约押就近前到她那里，妇人对他说：“你是约押吗？”他说：“我是。”妇人对他说：“请你听使女的话。”约押说：“我正在听。”妇人说：“古时有话说，当在亚比拉求问，事情就可以解决。我在以色列中是和平、忠诚的。你现在想要毁坏这城，以色列的根源，为何你要吞灭耶和华的产业呢？”约押回答说：“不，我绝不吞灭和毁坏！话不是这么说的，只是因为有一个以法莲山区的人，就是比基利的儿子名叫示巴，他举手攻击大卫王；你们只要把他一人交出来，我就离城而去。”妇人对约押说：“看哪，他的首级必从城墙上丢给你。”妇人凭她的智慧去劝众百姓，他们就割下比基利的儿子示巴的首级，丢给约押。约押吹角，众人就离城散开，各回自己的帐棚去了。约押回耶路撒冷，到王那里。
