王歟、請納我諫、去過而行義、絕惡而恤困、庶可延長綏安、

我今勸王棄惡歸善、矜憫貧乏、則享綏安、庶幾恆久、

故請王容我諫勸、王當行義以贖罪、矜恤貧乏以贖愆、庶幾恆久綏安、

Therefore, Your Majesty, be pleased to accept my advice: Renounce your sins by doing what is right, and your wickedness by being kind to the oppressed. It may be that then your prosperity will continue.”

So, Your Majesty, I hope you will accept my advice. Stop being sinful. Do what is right. Give up your evil practices. Show kindness to those who are being treated badly. Then perhaps things will continue to go well with you.”

“‘ King Nebuchadnezzar, please accept my advice. Stop sinning and do what is right. Break from your wicked past and be merciful to the poor. Perhaps then you will continue to prosper.’

Therefore, may my advice seem good to you my king. Separate yourself from your sins by doing what is right, and from your injustices by showing mercy to the needy. Perhaps there will be an extension of your prosperity.”

Therefore, O king, may my advice be pleasing to you: wipe away your sin by doing righteousness, and your wrongdoings by showing mercy to the poor, in case there may be a prolonging of your prosperity.’

“ Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near;let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

Who knows? God may turn and relent and turn from his fierce anger, so that we may not perish.”

Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.

But give as alms those things that are within, and behold, everything is clean for you.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Now therefore let Pharaoh select a discerning and wise man, and set him over the land of Egypt.Let Pharaoh proceed to appoint overseers over the land and take one-fifth of the produce of the land of Egypt during the seven plentiful years.And let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh for food in the cities, and let them keep it.That food shall be a reserve for the land against the seven years of famine that are to occur in the land of Egypt, so that the land may not perish through the famine.”This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants.

“ But if a wicked person turns away from all his sins that he has committed and keeps all my statutes and does what is just and right, he shall surely live; he shall not die.None of the transgressions that he has committed shall be remembered against him; for the righteousness that he has done he shall live.

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

By steadfast love and faithfulness iniquity is atoned for, and by the fear of the Lord one turns away from evil.

“ Have you seen how Ahab has humbled himself before me? Because he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the disaster in his days; but in his son’s days I will bring the disaster upon his house.”

but declared first to those in Damascus, then in Jerusalem and throughout all the region of Judea, and also to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds in keeping with their repentance.

Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment,

Blessed is the one who considers the poor! In the day of trouble the Lord delivers him;the Lord protects him and keeps him alive; he is called blessed in the land; you do not give him up to the will of his enemies.The Lord sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health.

Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a person to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a reed, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the Lord?“ Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the straps of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?

Again, when a wicked person turns away from the wickedness he has committed and does what is just and right, he shall save his life.Because he considered and turned away from all the transgressions that he had committed, he shall surely live; he shall not die.Yet the house of Israel says,‘ The way of the Lord is not just.’ O house of Israel, are my ways not just? Is it not your ways that are not just?“ Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, declares the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions, lest iniquity be your ruin.Cast away from you all the transgressions that you have committed, and make yourselves a new heart and a new spirit! Why will you die, O house of Israel?For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord God; so turn, and live.”

Who knows whether he will not turn and relent, and leave a blessing behind him, a grain offering and a drink offering for the Lord your God?

Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

before the decree takes effect— before the day passes away like chaff— before there comes upon you the burning anger of the Lord, before there comes upon you the day of the anger of the Lord.Seek the Lord, all you humble of the land, who do his just commands; seek righteousness; seek humility; perhaps you may be hidden on the day of the anger of the Lord.

Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others. But what we are is known to God, and I hope it is known also to your conscience.

if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday.And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in.

a devout man who feared God with all his household, gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God.About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God come in and say to him,“ Cornelius.”And he stared at him in terror and said,“ What is it, Lord?” And he said to him,“ Your prayers and your alms have ascended as a memorial before God.

For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.

“ For has anyone said to God,‘ I have borne punishment; I will not offend any more;teach me what I do not see; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more’?

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.

And as he reasoned about righteousness and self-control and the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said,“ Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you.”

I will also speak of your testimonies before kings and shall not be put to shame,
