因著神所賜給他的權勢，所有的民族、國家、語言群體都在他面前戰兢恐懼；他想要殺誰就殺誰，想要讓誰活就讓誰活，想要高舉誰就高舉誰，想要降卑誰就降卑誰。

因上帝所賜之大權、諸民諸國、諸方言者、咸戰慄畏懼於其前、生殺升降、隨其所欲、

因其威儀、億兆族姓、戰慄於前、生殺昇降、皆出王衷、

因天主賜之威權、各民、各國、各族、戰慄恐懼於其前、彼隨意生殺、隨意升降、

Because of the high position he gave him, all the nations and peoples of every language dreaded and feared him. Those the king wanted to put to death, he put to death; those he wanted to spare, he spared; those he wanted to promote, he promoted; and those he wanted to humble, he humbled.

God gave him a high position. Then people from every nation became afraid of the king. That was true no matter what language they spoke. The king put to death anyone he wanted to. He spared anyone he wanted to spare. He gave high positions to anyone he wanted to. And he brought down anyone he wanted to bring down.

And because of the greatness that he gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whom he would, he killed, and whom he would, he kept alive; whom he would, he raised up, and whom he would, he humbled.

He made him so great that people of all races and nations and languages trembled before him in fear. He killed those he wanted to kill and spared those he wanted to spare. He honored those he wanted to honor and disgraced those he wanted to disgrace.

Because of the greatness he gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages were terrified and fearful of him. He killed anyone he wanted and kept alive anyone he wanted; he exalted anyone he wanted and humbled anyone he wanted.

Now because of the greatness which He granted him, all the peoples, nations, and populations of all languages trembled and feared in his presence; whomever he wished, he killed, and whomever he wished, he spared alive; and whomever he wished he elevated, and whomever he wished he humbled.

And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down.

凡不俯伏下拜的，必立刻扔在烈火的窰中。」

王因這事生氣，大大震怒，吩咐滅絕巴比倫所有的智慧人。命令發出，智慧人將要被殺，人就尋找但以理和他的同伴，要殺他們。

那時傳令的大聲呼叫說：「各方、各國、各族的人哪，有命令傳給你們：

又命令他軍中的幾個壯士，把沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌捆起來，扔在烈火的窰中。這三人穿着內袍、外衣、頭巾和其他的衣服，被捆起來扔在烈火的窰中。

現在我降旨，無論何方、何國、何族，凡有人毀謗沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的上帝，他必被凌遲，他的房屋必成糞堆，因為沒有別神能像這樣施行拯救。」

王的震怒是死亡的使者，但智慧人能平息王怒。

看哪，我必召北方的眾族和我僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒前來攻擊這地和這地的居民，並四圍所有的國民。我要將他們盡行滅絕，以致他們令人驚駭、嗤笑，並且永久荒涼。這是耶和華說的。我又要止息他們歡喜和快樂的聲音、新郎和新娘的聲音、推磨的聲音和燈的亮光。這全地必然荒涼，令人驚駭。這些國家要服事巴比倫王七十年。七十年滿了以後，我必懲罰巴比倫王和那國，並迦勒底人之地，因他們的罪孽使那地永遠荒涼。這是耶和華說的。我也必使我向那地所說的話，就是所有記在這書上，耶利米向這些國家說的預言，都臨到那地。因為必有許多國家和大君王使迦勒底人作奴僕；我也必照他們的行為，按他們手所做的報應他們。」

他因酒詭詐、狂傲、不安於位；他張開喉嚨，好像陰間，如死亡不能知足，他聚集萬國，招聚萬民全歸自己。

耶穌回答他：「若不是從上頭賜給你的，你就毫無權柄辦我，所以，把我交給你的那人罪更重了。」

「王啊，這成長又茁壯的樹就是你。你的威勢成長及於天，你的權柄達到地極。

我用大能和伸出來的膀臂創造大地和地上的人民、牲畜。我看給誰合適，就把地給誰。現在我將全地都交在我僕人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒手中，也把野地的走獸給他使用。列國都要服事他和他的子孫，直到他本國遭報的日期來到；那時，許多國家和大君王要使他作奴隸。

在上有權柄的，人人要順服，因為沒有權柄不是來自上帝的。掌權的都是上帝所立的。
