这话还在王口中的时候，有声音从天降下，说：“尼布甲尼撒王啊，有话对你说，你的国离开你了。

恶人欢乐的声音是暂时的，不敬虔人的喜乐不过是转眼之间。

但在他们满足食欲以前，食物还在他们口中的时候，上帝的怒气就向他们上腾，杀了他们当中肥壮的人，打倒以色列的青年。

于是王所有的智慧人都进前来，他们却不能读那文字，也不能为王讲解它的意思。

于是从他那里显出指头写这文字。“所写的文字是：‘弥尼，弥尼，提客勒，乌法珥新。’解释是这样：弥尼就是上帝数算你国的年日到此完毕。提客勒就是你被秤在天平上，秤出你的亏欠来。毗勒斯就是你的国要分裂，归给玛代人和波斯人。”

我又看见死了的人，无论大小，都站在宝座前。案卷都展开了，并另有一卷展开，就是生命册。死了的人都凭着这些案卷所记载的，照他们所行的受审判。于是海交出其中的死人，死亡和阴间也交出其中的死人；他们都照各人所行的受审判。死亡和阴间也被扔进火湖里，这火湖就是第二次的死。凡名字没有记在生命册上的人，就被扔进火湖里。

现在智慧人和巫师都被带到我面前，要叫他们读这文字，为我讲解它的意思；无奈他们都不能讲解它的意思。

人屡次受责罚，仍然硬着颈项，他必顷刻被毁，无从医治。

涂去了在律例上所写、敌对我们、束缚我们的字据，把它撤去，钉在十字架上。

当时这话就应验在尼布甲尼撒身上，他被赶出离开世人，吃草如牛，身体被天上的露水滴湿，头发长得像鹰的羽毛，指甲长得像鸟爪。

因为你们自己明明知道，主的日子来到会像贼在夜间突然来到一样。人正说平安稳定的时候，灾祸忽然临到他们，如同阵痛临到怀胎的妇人一样，他们绝逃脱不了。

然后要对我自己说：你这个人哪，你有许多财物积存，可供多年享用，只管安安逸逸吃喝快乐吧！’上帝却对他说：‘无知的人哪！今夜就要你的性命，你所预备的要归谁呢？’
