with three administrators over them, one of whom was Daniel. The satraps were made accountable to them so that the king might not suffer loss.

He placed three leaders over them. One of the leaders was Daniel. The royal rulers were made accountable to the three leaders. Then the king wouldn’t lose any of his wealth.

and over them three high officials, of whom Daniel was one, to whom these satraps should give account, so that the king might suffer no loss.

The king also chose Daniel and two others as administrators to supervise the high officers and protect the king’s interests.

Then Belshazzar gave orders, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a necklace of gold around his neck, and issued a proclamation concerning him that he now had authority as the third ruler in the kingdom.

But I personally have heard about you, that you are able to give interpretations and solve difficult problems. Now if you are able to read the inscription and make its interpretation known to me, you will be clothed with purple and wear a necklace of gold around your neck, and you will have authority as the third ruler in the kingdom.”

And beware of being negligent in carrying out this matter; why should there be great damage, to the detriment of the kings?”

Then the king promoted Daniel and gave him many great gifts, and he made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon, and chief prefect over all the wise men of Babylon.And Daniel made a request of the king, and he appointed Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego over the administration of the province of Babylon, while Daniel was at the king’s court.

for we have been sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, killed, and eliminated. Now if we had only been sold as slaves, men and women, I would have kept silent, because the distress would not be sufficient reason to burden the king.”

“ For this reason the kingdom of heaven is like a king who wanted to settle accounts with his slaves.

In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.

One who sends a message by the hand of a fool Chops off his own feet and drinks violence.

Therefore the Lord God of Israel declares,‘ I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father was to walk before Me forever’; but now the Lord declares,‘ Far be it from Me— for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be insignificant.

Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are riches and honor.

And he called ten of his own slaves and gave them ten minas, and said to them,‘ Do business with this money until I come back.’But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying,‘ We do not want this man to reign over us.’When he returned after receiving the kingdom, he ordered that these slaves, to whom he had given the money, be summoned to him so that he would learn how much they had made by the business they had done.The first slave appeared, saying,‘ Master, your mina has made ten minas more.’And he said to him,‘ Well done, good slave; since you have been faithful in a very little thing, you are to have authority over ten cities.’The second one came, saying,‘ Your mina, master, has made five minas.’And he said to him also,‘ And you are to be over five cities.’And then another came, saying,‘ Master, here is your mina, which I kept tucked away in a handkerchief;for I was afraid of you, because you are a demanding man; you take up what you did not lay down, and reap what you did not sow.’He* said to him,‘ From your own lips I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am a demanding man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow?And so why did you not put my money in the bank, and when I came back, I would have collected it with interest?’And then he said to the other slaves who were present,‘ Take the mina away from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas.’And they said to him,‘ Master, he already has ten minas.’‘ I tell you that to everyone who has, more shall be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he does have shall be taken away.But as for these enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slaughter them in my presence.’ ”

And he summoned him and said to him,‘ What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.’
