有火河發出，從寶座前面流出來；伺候他的有千千，侍立在他面前的有萬萬；審判者坐着要開庭，案卷都展開着。

長老中有一位對我說：『別哭了！你看，猶大支派的獅子、大衛的根、已經得勝，可以展開那書卷、而揭開其七印了。』

看哪，那跟我說話的天使走出一步來，另有一位天使也走出一步來迎着他，

他來同我講話說：『但以理啊，現在我出來、是要使你有智慧有聰明。

他對我說：『大蒙眷愛的人、但以理啊，你要注意我所對你說的話，只管站起來，因為我現在是奉差遣來找你的。』他跟我說了這話，我便站起來、直哆嗦。他就對我說：『但以理啊，你不要懼怕，因為從你用心求明白這些事、又在你的上帝面前刻苦自己那頭一天起，你禱告的話就蒙應允；我就是因你的話而來的。

我夜間觀看，忽見一個人騎着紅馬，站在窪地的桃金孃樹中間；他後面還有紅馬、栗色馬、和白馬。我對那跟我說話的天使說：「主啊，這些是甚麼？」那跟我說話的天使對我說：「我要指示你這些是甚麼。」那站在桃金孃樹中間的人應聲地說：「這些就是奉永恆主差遣在地上來回巡邏的。」那些騎馬的應聲對那站在桃金孃樹中間的永恆主使者說：「我們已在地上來回巡邏；看哪，全地都安居着，都很平靜呢。」

我聽見有一位聖者在說話；又有一位聖者問那說話的聖者，說：『關於以下這些事的異象要延到幾時呢？關於這不斷獻的燔祭之被除掉和那使地荒涼的罪過行為、以及將聖所和拜神儀節任意踐踏的事；要延到幾時呢？他對他說：『要延到二千三百個暮暮朝朝，然後聖所才能正宗化過來。』我、我但以理、既見了這異象、就想法子要明白它的意義；忽見有一位形狀像人的站在我面前。我又聽見烏萊河兩岸之間有人的聲音呼叫着說：『加百列啊，要使這人明白所見的景象。』

我舉目觀看，忽見有一個人穿着細麻服裝，腰束烏法黃金帶。他的身體如黃璧璽，他的面貌如閃電的形狀，他的眼睛像火把，他的手臂和腿像明亮的銅那麼閃耀；他說話的聲音就如蜂擁大眾的聲音。

我但以理在觀看着，便見另有兩個站立着，一個在河這邊，一個在河那邊。我問身穿細麻服裝、站在河水以上的那人說：『這些奇事的結局、要等幾時才到呢？』

『萬軍之永恆主這麼說：你若行我的道路，守盡我所吩咐的職守，你就可以管理我的殿，看守我的院子；我就使你在這些侍立的人中間往來。
