I came near to one of those who stood by, and asked him the truth of all this. So he told me and made known to me the interpretation of these things:

But one of the elders said to me,“ Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

And there was the angel who talked with me, going out; and another angel was coming out to meet him,

And he informed me, and talked with me, and said,“ O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand.

And he said to me,“ O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.” While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling.Then he said to me,“ Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

I saw by night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and it stood among the myrtle trees in the hollow; and behind him were horses: red, sorrel, and white.Then I said,“ My Lord, what are these?” So the angel who talked with me said to me,“ I will show you what they are.”And the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said,“ These are the ones whom the Lord has sent to walk to and fro throughout the earth.”So they answered the Angel of the Lord, who stood among the myrtle trees, and said,“ We have walked to and fro throughout the earth, and behold, all the earth is resting quietly.”

Then I heard a holy one speaking; and another holy one said to that certain one who was speaking,“ How long will the vision be, concerning the daily sacrifices and the transgression of desolation, the giving of both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled under foot?”And he said to me,“ For two thousand three hundred days; then the sanctuary shall be cleansed.”Then it happened, when I, Daniel, had seen the vision and was seeking the meaning, that suddenly there stood before me one having the appearance of a man.And I heard a man’s voice between the banks of the Ulai, who called, and said,“ Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.”

I lifted my eyes and looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose waist was girded with gold of Uphaz!His body was like beryl, his face like the appearance of lightning, his eyes like torches of fire, his arms and feet like burnished bronze in color, and the sound of his words like the voice of a multitude.

Then I, Daniel, looked; and there stood two others, one on this riverbank and the other on that riverbank.And one said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river,“ How long shall the fulfillment of these wonders be?”

“ Thus says the Lord of hosts:‘ If you will walk in My ways, And if you will keep My command, Then you shall also judge My house, And likewise have charge of My courts; I will give you places to walk Among these who stand here.
