Then one of the elders said to me,“ Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” (niv)

While the angel who was speaking to me was leaving, another angel came to meet him (niv)

He instructed me and said to me,“ Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding. (niv)

He said,“ Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.Then he continued,“ Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them. (niv)

During the night I had a vision, and there before me was a man mounted on a red horse. He was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine. Behind him were red, brown and white horses.I asked,“ What are these, my lord?” The angel who was talking with me answered,“ I will show you what they are.”Then the man standing among the myrtle trees explained,“ They are the ones the Lord has sent to go throughout the earth.”And they reported to the angel of the Lord who was standing among the myrtle trees,“ We have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace.” (niv)

Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him,“ How long will it take for the vision to be fulfilled— the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes desolation, the surrender of the sanctuary and the trampling underfoot of the Lord’s people?”He said to me,“ It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be reconsecrated.”While I, Daniel, was watching the vision and trying to understand it, there before me stood one who looked like a man.And I heard a man’s voice from the Ulai calling,“ Gabriel, tell this man the meaning of the vision.” (niv)

I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist.His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude. (niv)

Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank.One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river,“ How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?” (niv)

“ This is what the Lord Almighty says:‘ If you will walk in obedience to me and keep my requirements, then you will govern my house and have charge of my courts, and I will give you a place among these standing here. (niv)
